    a) a fee under £20m
    b) a very sensible 2 year deal for an ageing, injury prone player. No more mammoth contracts which cripple the club in later years.

I was going to dispute the "ageing" descriptor but after checking his age, I think that's appropriate. I just assumed he was still 26 or something lol

Reports we are close to getting Partey.

Also appears we may be about to sell Martinez to Villa for £20m which is honestly good money. Would be sad to see him leave but it would be great for his career.

Haaland absolutely smashed Northern Ireland tonight. Norway looked good in general but he is something else.

Ya, this sucks if it's another.serious one.

Dare I say, he's better than his father ever was already. Sublime finisher.

Not sure if anyone in here would be interested but the podcast Football Manager Therapy has a special on the MLS today. As someone who tried with Philadelphia Union and was very confused, it was really interesting.

Good podcast too, quite new but they discuss actual football, FM themes, and their current saves where they took over Scandinavian clubs and aim for CL glory.

Also one of the presenters has a stand up show on YouTube called Football Manager Ruined My Life and if you have ever played you will love it.

I tried MLS once too and couldn't handle it. I'm pretty poor outside of the top 5 leagues and Championship/League 1.

I also find lower table teams in Spain really hard to manage.

Tony Jameson! Saw him (and that show) as part of a comedy festival in Hull when I was at Uni! Set up a PowerPoint presentation as he was going through it. Fantastic show haha.

If the MLS rules weren't so baffling I'd probably do an MLS save or two, but there's just so much stuff to try and wrap my head around that it's not worth it, plus the lack of "progression" that comes from promotions, it's a really hard league/country for me to get into.

I wanna try more lower leagues in Europe but I just never get around to it, it always ends up being lower league England or somewhere in Korea/Japan for me.

playoffs in general annoy me. I don’t fancy doing a full season and it all comes down to a cup competition. The lower league ones in England are fun, but I’m not a fan of them for winning the top title.

I tend to have certain teams I play as. For a fun challenge I like to build up teams who are mid table or underperforming, namely Hertha in Germany, Sporting in Portugal, etc. Used to be Atletico 10 years ago too.

I also had a game as the mighty Kettering Town where I got to the Championship from the sixth tie in 7 seasons.

Rarely have I been a non European club though. I was Universidad Catolica in Chile once, and tried Philadelphia Union.

Greuther Furth, Mallorca, Palermo, and Rennes are my teams. Clermont Foot recently because Rennes are actually quite good now. I haven't played an Italy save since Palermo were relegated down to Serie D though.

I often start games at Pats too in Ireland, but there's a limit on how fun that can be. It's quite easy to win the League of Ireland, but getting into the group stages of a European competition is incredibly hard and that's pretty much the limit of where an Irish team can go.

I usually do 1 save a year, and my last few saves have been Seongnam in 2016 (K League 1), I couldn't really get into a save in 2017 so a bit of a bum year, Gamba Osaka in 2018 (J League 1), Bristol Rovers in 2019 (League 1) and then this year I did a Bristol Manor Farm (like Tier 7 or 8, England) save that lasted 10 years until I got sacked in League 1 after probably my worst transfer window of all time.

I kinda died out on that save since I got sacked after such a long time at the club, so I started a second one now with Fujieda MYFC in J League 3 which I've been enjoying a lot. In 2024 (my 5th season I think?) and some how challenging for the title after narrowly avoiding relegation last season. Not really sure how since I didn't do anything special in the window (just downgraded my RW since my old one left and I wanted to replace him cheaper), but I guess my players have just developed and settled into the system and now we're the 2nd best team in the league? I'll take it honestly.

I usually go with Ipswich. If not then Arsenal. I had a good save with Frankfurt early on with FM20, it was a random pick but found it fun.

Never tried France, Italy or Spain (other than starting a Madrid or Barca save and not going anywhere with it). I've tried starting games with lots of different teams but again they never get far (Celtic, Man Utd, Man City, Everton, Fulham, Spurs).

On an old FM I had a career game of starting at FC Dallas, before getting the Everton job (they had been relegated), got sacked after a few years and got the Bayern job.

lol that reminds me of my last Mallorca game, most of my team was very very old, but I got Kubo in on loan again from Madrid and decided to build my team around him.

I had, what I thought, was a stonking good summer. replaced and improved on a lot of the old guard that was there with better and younger players that I managed to pick up cheap or on free's. Lost my first 6 games of the season and Kubo, who was pretty much the only player performing broke his leg and was out for 5 months. :tear:

The worst feeling is feeling like you're had a great transfer window and then you get absolutely boshed the first few games of the season. Even though it's probably just because the players are still gelling it feels like the entire season is finished. That's the point of the season where I hard over-react, start chopping and changing bits and pieces of the system, and the players can never adapt in time and then it's just a slow decline towards the board meeting where they let me go...

    @fangclubb Prestigious

yeah and you make that one tactical change that works for a match and you think you've cracked the code, just to get hammered the next game :tear:

haha really? They're super close to me too, which is why I ended up going with them since I'd done Rovers the year before. They're not playable by default (it only goes down to Vanarama North/South), but you can download user created databases that end up enabling them and making them playable, which is how I got it done.
