I already love him. Amazing response from Ajax and their players too. He really must be loved there. Hopefully he’s a huge success here and after he’s done can go back and finish his career there.

Extremely likeable player, him & Nouri were the ones every fan was waiting for to break into the first team because it was so obvious they were going to do very well. He's already proven he can score big goals in big CL games etc, but really he is one of those players that should not be judged on goals/assists as he offers so much with movement/finding space/timing runs into the box etc. which occupies defenders and allows others to "do the damage" so to speak. He can do pretty much everything in an attacking sense, so imo he will succeed for sure.

This is so well done. Really annoying that United have likeable players these days.

  12. Fabrizo says we are targeting three more signings this window: CB, ST, and Winger.

He mentions Milik as the striker and Leon Bailey as the winger. I wouldn't be disappointed.

Oh and now Sky is saying Ndombele will be able to "prove himself" this season rather than be sold. I really hope he gets it together. The talent is there.

Would be cool to see United try a 4-4-2 diamond formation next season,

    ----------DDG-----------
    AWB-Lindelöf-Maguire-Shaw
    ----------Matic----------
    ----DvdB ------ Pogba----
    --------- Bruno ---------
    --- Martial ----- Rashford-

Pogba's best club football IMO was at Juve when he played on the left in the diamond (when they got to CL final against Barca), plus Rashford & Greenwood when he plays would be better suited to playing more centrally rather than LW and RW. Just one guys thoughts!

We don't have the full backs for that. We might play it against teams with strong midfields though it might sacrifice some attacking prowess.

    What's everyone's predictions for top 6 and bottom 3?

    1. Man City
    2. Liverpool
    3. Chelsea
    4. Arsenal
    5. Man United
    6. Tottenham

    18. Newcastle
    19. West Brom
    20. Fulham

I think 4th to 7th/8th with Wolves and Leicester is going to be close, particularly Arsenal and United i think. I've gone with the more optimistic ordering because we all do that, don't we? Will be interested in seeing how Wolves do without European football, could they push for top four?

Relegation I think it's out of four, with Aston Villa looking shaky too.

If we get two more good/great players in I think we will get top 4. If VdB is our only business this summer I don’t think we will.

I’m not sold on Chelsea. A lot of their season hinges on how well Thiago Silva does as they still have a really shitty defence and Lampard doesn’t seem to be able to set them up to protect it. We’ll see though, both could and probably will surprise me.

To be fair, they had a shitty defense last season and still managed top-4. They'll arguably have a better offense this year but to your point, that's not enough to bank on for a top four challenge. Lampard does have quite the task this year with all the new signings. Has the club officially announced Havertz?

  20. Nick

    @fangclubb Prestigious

Yeah, but I think/hope us, and Arsenal will be better than last season. If you look back to last year, every team trying for the top 4 was screwing it up every week. One weekend of results goes differently and either Chelsea or United drop out.

Then, as you mentioned, what if all the new signings don’t gel well this season. We’ve seen players come in and hit the ground running, but a lot of others struggle in their first season. They’ll all have huge egos too, bringing 5 new big ego players into a team that was mostly built on younger players that have been at Chelsea for a while now. That’s going to be interesting to see if Lampard can manage them. I don’t know, I just don’t think they’re a sure bet. I’ll need to see how they start the season.

Yeah for me, Chelsea doing well will depend on how quickly the team gels. I do think Chelsea will still be ripped apart on the counter. An aging Silva will do a lot of things to help the defence but I think stopping counters is not one of them.

Chelsea have also brought in a very highly respected coach this summer too, who will help Lampard improve defensive positioning etc. Whether that moves them up the table is unlikely to be clear right away though.

I think top 4 will be the same 4 as this season but can't settle on an order as I don't think LFC will have as easy a season as last season. Top 6 will definitely be the usual "big six" though, Arsenal with Arteta are going to be good and he is on his way to becoming a great manger imo so would like them to finish 5th. Leicester + Wolves the "best of the rest".

Wolves without European football as a distraction could be a dark horse, but given they've sold Doherty who was so crucial to how they played, maybe not.
