would be an astronomical shame to see messi leave barca to join such a fraudulent side like city

City have history paying salaries through third parties and to offshore accounts too, so I'm sure they could handle his wage the best too.

It’s an absolute shame that him and David Silva couldn’t play together, though. That’s tasty tasty tasty in their primes.

As silly as it is given its Messi. I would prefer we avoid getting into that shit if Messi does leave. Best player ever and it would be glorious to see him in a United kit but it would be a very short term option for a LOT of money. We need to think long term.

    I do not exist.

Is it the case that only City & PSG can actually afford him?

When do transfer windows close this year with all the confusing and different season start dates?

I’d say we can but I doubt the owners would pay that much to be honest.

    english window closes October 5th

I expect he will end up at either City, PSG or staying at Barca. I just can't see anyone with any concept of a transfer/wage budget paying for him.

Pretty much this. I think theoretically a bunch of clubs could afford it.

There's definitely a few clubs that technically could afford him, but there is absolutely no chance the move would happen - United being one of them.

It's either City or staying I reckon. I think it rests on if he can terminate the contract. I can't see City offering a massive fee to actually buy him, but if he was free and City only had the wages to care about, I could see them working something out.

Nice to see Nelson, Nketiah and Saka all called up to England under-21's. I think Arsenal fans forget how young some of our players are. Also, we have the joint most players in the team, alongside Chelsea, which is unusual for us.

This though, is fucking hilarious. We can’t afford Sancho so want to get Messi in who would in the course of a contract he would accept be more expensive.

Not good. Would be a horrible decision for him to have to make, but he should really retire for the sake of his own health :tear:

Would be great to see him moving into coaching, fantastic player let down by his body really.

That's such a shame. I loved him at United. One of those players that if they were a couple of yards faster and a bit stronger would have been one of the best.

Yeah he's already had a career most can only dream of.

Can only imagine how terrifying that must be.

How is it possible for one of the two or three biggest teams in the world to be this incompetent?

my personal favorite theory to come out overnight is that Bartomeu is a plant for the King of Spain and the Real Madrid board sent to destroy Catalonia at its heart

I was wondering when this partnership would start working this way.

  22. The tweet from ESPN that said this was deleted so who knows if it has any truth. But it’d certainly make sense.

Sign Messi, tell Sancho to run his contract down and sign him on a pre contract in January 2023. Easy as.
