I've always thought that he's too short for a "big" club if they want him as a centre-back. He does have versatility on his side, though, being able to play left-back and DM. I would imagine he wouldn't be City's only centre-back in this summer e.g. Koulibaly.

City fans on Reddit (amazing source, I know) seem to think he'll be the 3rd choice. Basically Laporte's back up and rotation, but still probably playing 30-40 games a year.

For that, it's amazing business. Better than Stones and Otamendi either way, so it's still an upgrade.

It's insane that the Stones/Otamendi pairing was actually great for us.

Hard to judge Branthwaite based on that as he was hardly tested but a clean sheet should do him the world of good confidence wise.

I didn't watch the game, but were Sheffield United toothless again? I hope Wilder comes out swinging again, his comments last game were something else.

I can't recall a Sheffield United attack in all honesty. Abit of huff and puff from Sharp when he came on. Branthwaite and Keane cleared any long balls they were faced with.

  9. Shaping up to be a huge week for CL and Europa qualifying.

The most Spurs thing ever would be finishing 7th and then Arsenal winning the FA Cup and taking our Europa spot.

Looks like Depor have been relegated from the Segunda Division. Their glory days being years ago makes me feel very old.

This thought came to me earlier and honestly it would be hilarious. That said, I think you'll finish 6th.

Pep Guardiola is such a sore loser. We hire his assistant and then beat him in a cup and suddenly he can’t take it.

Fuck off Pep you bald fraud. You don’t respect us off the pitch because of that yet you happily work for slave-owning murderers.

Manage a club that doesn’t have a MASSIVE financial advantage over everyone else in the league then we’ll care what you say.

(I am aware Barcelona has Real to compete with, but the gulf otherwise back then was astronomical)

  13. Hugo Lloris has probably been the best keeper in England since the restart. He’s been incredible. And I think Jose gets some credit for that.

Lloris isn’t the best at distributing under pressure, and neither are the defenders in front of him. One of the most consistent things that angered me during the Poch era was the stubbornness to build from the back. We’d give up so many goals after turnovers because of this mentality. Now we are seeing much less of that and therefore less mistakes from Hugo and the defenders.

And he’s made world class saves nearly every game.

Can I throw Martinez into the ring as the other best keeper in England. It’s become apparent that we have two unbelievable goalkeepers and I have no idea who is first choice anymore.

Cavani to Leeds? Well, that would be quite the upgrade on Bamford.

He's been impressive, definitely. I think he could be better than Leno if he gets a longer run in the team.

  20. Southampton have accepted Everton’s bid for Hojbjerg. 25m.

Hopefully that’s a blessing for Spurs and Levy moves on to someone better. Florentino Luis and Denis Zakaria are both better options and will still be in our budget.

That's a shame, I genuinely thought he would have helped Spurs. Instead he'll go into the abyss which is Everton's midfield and the instability of their rebuild.

An interesting part of the deal is that it's apparently tied up in our new kit sponsorship with Hummel; a Danish company. They want a "high profile" Dane at the club. On the pitch, if he fills the gap left by Gana Gueye then I'll be relatively happy with the fee.

  24. Conflicting reports now, of course

Others are saying no bid has been made and no deal between player and club. He wants Spurs and hasn’t talked to Everton.

    Who the hell knows lol

Yeah, the two sources are Everton's local paper and also Southampton's local paper. Both are called The Echo to add to the confusion lol
