Embarrassing showing from United today. I know we're knackered but it's no excuse. Abject all day.

 

Foolish line up and subs to be honest. They were always going to be much better than us given the two days extra rest.

 

Pleasantly surprised but yeah, the fixture scheduling has been harsh on United there no doubt. Both of these teams need a new, top-level CB though for sure. God knows who they could buy, but the need is there (imo).

I'm curious what you think of Carlo's midfield selections lately. Every time I watch Everton, the midfield two just get overrun and can't get a foot in the game regardless of who is playing or who they're playing against. Is it a selection issue or a formation issue? It's brave these days to play 4-4-2 like they do.

Definitely a selection issue. The players that have been playing in CM just aren't good enough as you've seen and are routinely overrun. Gomes does have quality on the ball but he's slow. Sigurdsson is fine when he's stood still. As for Davies, he's Championship fodder living off his goal v Manchester City years ago. In an ideal world, we will sign 2 central midfielders in the summer to fix an obvious issue.

 

I think Ancelotti sees the Richarlison/Calvert-Lewin partnership as the only attacking idea that works given his current squad. I think he's basing the rest of the team round that at the moment.

 

We're pressing well so far but we're also not even 10 minutes in. Let's see how it goes!

 

OK, so we're playing 4-2-3-1. Makes sense that we're not appauling so far.

Would be wild if United and Leicester draw and Chelsea lose, knocking them out of CL, and out of Havertz.

 

Newcastle Vs Brighton appears to have been a competition of who can make the other team make the worst sound.

Also, Souness really is a turd, as is whoever is on co-comms.

 

That would literally be a blessing in disguise to not be able to buy Havertz, they need defenders not attackers

 

Yeah it’s really weird to me. Chelsea’s midfield is already very strong imo. And with the emergence of a few young players they have depth. The backline hasn’t been terrible but if they want to compete with Liverpool they need to buy a word class CB. No question.
