Increasingly starting to realise that even in the shittest times at Newcastle, we had scouts who could sniff out a player, so long as we had the right manager to get them going.

We just beat PSG, using Almiron, Schar, Murphy and Lascelles. We didn't even have a Joelinton available.

Obviously we've got some money now and we've been spending some serious cash on some of our signings, but it's a shame we couldn't have been run this way without a nation state providing the cash. It's not an endless pot of cash which has made the change.

Reading quotes now from Burn and Longstaff, it really is a special moment for a couple of local Newcastle guys to score in a big UCL game against a team like that. It’s been such a huge turn around and your lot has been massively consistent since Howe came in and the way he got a squad playing well above their station might unfortunately be forgotten when Newcastle are winning trebles in a decade.

Grabbing Howe was a masterstroke tbh. I wonder where his ceiling is going to be. If he keeps doing well with Newcastle and Southgate lasts a bit longer, I could see us losing him to England in a few years.

Could be a sticky situation where he does wel enough to where a sacking would be incredibly unjustified, but he’s just right below the trophy winning tier of managers? I guess we’ve seen Madrid sack title winning managers in the past and what not but would be shocked to see him ditched. Maybe a voluntary move to take on England would see that avoided.

Sky Sports and the Premier League will trial an innovative new camera angle during the Arsenal vs Manchester City game this weekend.

The new camera angle, which will be called ‘Game Mode’, will track action from side to side in line with play not dissimilar to the angle you would see on a football video game.

Nothing like travelling to Rome on a Thursday and getting stabbed by Lazio Ultras.

Maybe it is media bias, but I feel that a handful of Italian clubs still have extremely problematic Ultra groups that are welcomed with open arms into their home stadiums. Especially compared to the schtick Millwall gets.

I'm sure this will shock everyone, but Morocco and Spain are both claiming they're hosting the 2030 WC final and Argentina is already saying they should have more than their initial game at home. Who could possibly have foreseen six automatically qualifying host nations as a problem!?

If you want to support a team that has a cruel run in the champions league, come support Celtic!

the weekend we had a 88th minute goal to go 1-0 up. 95th minute equaliser and then 97th minute winner.

then you lose with a 95th minute goal in the CL to a pretty poor Lazio team. Football is cruel. Fuck Lazio though forever.

i love this. Didn’t seem to cause any trouble, just turned up, had a great time, had a singalong, and went to the game.

"Paris Saint-Germain players Randal Kolo Muani, Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi and Layvin Kurzawa have been handed one-match suspensions for their role in anti-gay chants, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (IFL) said on Thursday.

During last month's Ligue 1 match against Marseille at the Parc des Princes, PSG fans were heard celebrating with anti-gay chants directed at Marseille.

French sports daily L'Equipe said PSG players were also involved in offensive chanting.

The LFP handed the players suspended one-match suspensions effective from Oct. 10 and decided to close the Auteuil stand at the Parc des Princes for two matches, one of which was suspended.

"The club regrets that the Disciplinary Commission has opted for an excessive and collective measure, likely to undermine the work of dialogue and prevention undertaken by the Club with associations, institutions and fans," PSG said in a statement, adding that they will not appeal."

Also the club has decided to not hire Boateng again. Two positive and reasonable decisions on the same day. I'm genuinely surprised.
