Yeah, I presuming all the "best" teams will be in one and then the rest in the other. I can't help but feel it's to help the lesser Asian e.g. China and India and African countries to qualify for a "World Cup".

I don’t mind having a second tier World Cup to give exposure to those teams that don’t qualify, and more importantly the individual players having the ability to burst onto the scene in an international tournament.

I dont like having it every other year, though. Every four years is classic. Stick with that. I like how the spread allows generations of new players to come and go, whereas two years feels too soon to see teams really overhaul, grow, and evolve.

Issue is we literally have the Euros, the Copa America, the Asian Cup. Competitions that allow smaller nations from those continents to qualify and compete on a tournament. Maybe at a certain point if you can't qualify for those, it's maybe a sign your team isn't good enough to qualify.

    hmmm

Yeah the point is it's THE World Cup. If you don't qualify, tough luck.

Like, I sorta disagreed with the concept of having it every 2 years originally. But more in a "ah FIFA you money grabbing bastards" kinda way.

But creating an entirely separate World Cup for lesser teams, having that every 2 years, somehow degrading 2 competitions plus getting rid of potentially great competitions like the Continental ones, mannn. Fuck that.

I get it, everyone wants to see their team on the world stage, but it's gotta be earned surely. There's definitely changes that can be made, but this ain't it.

Club competitions, yeah open that shit up to allow teams from every country in the organisation to compete. World Cup though, as an Irish person, I don’t want us to qualify through pity. It should be the pinnacle of the sport.

But having a World Cup and then a second international tournament for the teams that don’t qualify allows more teams involved, allows FIFA to maximize their $$, and doesn’t take away from the hype of the World Cup because no one is going to view the other tournament as a threat to the prestige.

still allows for regional/continental tournaments to exist, as long as it’s every four years.

I think it was @bobby_runs who asked last time, but Dest is back up top again.

  9. How has be played there? I doubt he’ll be playing there for US so I don’t know how I feel about it haha

Decently. They liked what they saw of him attacking for the USMNT, oddly enough, and decided to try it.

  11. Wait, did I miss him playing up top for the national team? Haha

No, but attacking out of the deep right against Costa Rica looked more Dani Alves than not.

Dest played up more than I've seen him in that CR game

Great clearance by Werner on the malmo goal.

I really don’t get UEFA. Wan Bissaka was sent off against YB, then got an extra game ban for violent conduct or whatever, then they overturned that on appeal. What was the point in giving him the extra game?

What a goal that was. Great play.

I read this as malmo having scored a goal, which would have blown my mind.

They’re doing everything they can to sabotage my bets today, which I do think is a fireable offense.

i have zero faith they’ll be able to net three before the end of the match.

i mean I’m not sure it matters much if manages or we have a care taker. I can’t see them bringing in anybody mid season.
