this surely won’t cause even more economic hardships on clubs not owned by oil conglomerates

I genuinely don’t envy your position right now.

On one hand, Mike Ashley being out of your club is huge. I know many Newcastle fans and a lot of them seem quite checked out on recent seasons. You have one of the most passionate and loyal fanbases in British football and you deserve some hope.

On the other hand, I understand that it feels like selling your soul to the devil. Your xlub effectively becomes a puppet for sportswashing a sexist, murderous, violent regime. But all the current fans will have ties to the club, what choice do they have?

On the plus side; everything that has come out about them suggests they want to actively help the local area out, and build the club from the facilities upwards, which is a great way to do it.

The Newcastle takeover is complicated, but I doubt it will cause a new Man City or Chelsea situation. As far as I know the Everton owners haven't been allowed to pump cash into the club either and I don't see how this will be different. That being said, I'm excited for Newcastle fans - that club deserves to have a better standing in English football than it has had for the past several years. It's still a shame they never won a title back in the mid 1990s the last time they were in their pomp.

    hmmm

I have some sympathy with Newcastle fans who are more positive than negative today. The end of Ashley is obviously a thing to be celebrated.

But the "we've got our club back" crap is ridiculous.

That's what happens when the owner can't step foot in the city anymore without security.

Also knowing you want be relegated the next season helps as well.

There's very little chance now, but it would be funny if they got relegated anyway.

what in the world is this?

  12. No clue. The stadium is hosting a game this weekend so I’m assuming it’s related to that. Maybe Tottenham uniforms for American football teams? Harry Kane as a QB? No clue lol

Tbf it’s all part of the process. City had a string of shit managers like Hughes early on.

I wonder who will be their Robinho.

I could see them going for Gallardo. He’s the hot name right now.

I went to an NFL game at the new Spurs stadium a couple of years ago, and they were actually selling Tottenham branded NFL shirts. Like literally looked exactly like a standard NFL jersey, but with the Tottenham logo, Spurs on the front, and Kane (I believe) on the back. So tempted to buy one.

I could see it being that.

Edit - it was this I think. I thought they had a player's name on, but actually this rings a bell more and was the reason I didn't buy it - having Spurs on the back just felt weird haha

Concacaf not having VAR for world cup qualifiers and Jamaica getting away with a clear red card offense 22 seconds in is peak concacaf.
