I’m against B teams, used to be for them but I realised how shitty they would be in England. but fuck, the u23 league is just atrocious. A lot of players playing for the u23s just end up stagnating if they’re not one of the lucky few to break through early. Add to that the standard of reffing is appalling, any decent player just gets kicked about and refs don’t give a shit. The matches in the EFL Trophy are probably the best games for the youth teams, they get to ply their trade against proper teams.

When you look at United, the best players we’ve brought through in the last few years, Rashford and Greenwood both essentially skipped the u23 level. I think a lot of work needs to be done to improve that system. B teams aren’t the answer, but surely there’s a middle ground somewhere to improve the level of reserve football.

The entire crew is unbearable. It would only be slightly better if their jokes and jabs at each other were actually funny, but I would prefer if ESPNFC would drop the humor and laid back nature of their show production and broadcasting. Totally. If you’re not bringing top tier A grade commentary/analysis, you need to at least bring character, personality, and charm to the table. ESPNFC has decided they’re cool with giving you none of the above.

 

Any senior player that plays U23 games for fitness ends up getting two footed by some kid with an attitude problem, it's a joke. U23 teams in the FA Trophy for League 1 and League 2 teams is a strange decision too.
