  1. That is total nonsense. If he's not putting the best players out there due to pride/spite then he should have been fired long ago. I'm not banking on reverse psychology from fans/media working.

I don't even think I need to say what name instantly came to mind here.

I agree that Jurgen isn't going to play a guy the fans are demanding for. But I don't think he is not going to play a guy because the fans are demanding for it. He just plays who he thinks the strongest squad is.

Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

Congrats to Lando for telling the world he's been watching sports his entire life. Apparently I have a future doing commentary for fox.

Yeah I don't think I'm talking out of my ass when I say Klinsmann has definitely made decisions due to pride/spite, haha. You think he doesn't hear all the noise? That he doesn't realize how much we hate him???? Haha.

"There were just a few players a tiny bit ahead of him." That quote still haunts my dreams sometimes.

I know he's your (former, now?) boy, but I have nightmares about Brad Davis starting against Germany as a tangential nightmare to this quote.

I think he fully realizes that a lot of people don't like him. But I don't think that affects his decision making process.

  12. Did Landon just say we should've committed "11, 12, or 13" yellow cards tonight to help our chances?

I love Brad Davis. He had no business being on that squad, unless he was to be used as a set piece specialist, because he is the most prolific set piece taker in MLS history. I thought that was the justification for bringing him.....then Klinsmann proceeded to have Zusi(?) take free kicks during that game....rendering his presence completely useless, haha.

    So yeah. I'm with you.

To slow down the attack, yeah. He's not wrong, imo. This is the most spineless US performance I've seen.

  15. Honestly this

Done complaining. Argentina are great. I'm going to a fucking championship parade in the morning.

  16. I know making it to the semis of a big tournament looks good on paper, but is it really much to brag about? Costa Rica game sticks out but other than that I wasn't too impressed.

Yeah, it would be dishonest to say I didn't expect this. But I never want to let myself go into a match without any belief. Argentina were spectacular. Messi was otherworldly when it mattered, and unselfish at even more crucial times.

Now I can go back to rooting for him like normal and not existing in this weird paradox of life for a day.

Ecuador result is impressive, fwiw. They're in the top 12, I think.

I'm not saying he does it to fuck with us, or plays guys he knows shouldn't be out there just to spite us, but I think a man with that much pride, taking the type of abuse he does, is definitely influenced and definitely wants to show he knows best.

I think he really believes Bradley should play an advanced role, and Wondo should start games, and Besler should play LB....I also think when we shit on those decisions he feels the need to stand by them, you know? It's pride.

I feel like this lineup was too safe. Start this lineup and even if everyone plays their best game we still lose 2-1. When the odds are stacked against you, you don't just bet it on black your put it all on double zero cause that is the only way you actually win.

Oh definitely. But I think in theory that is a good trait for a coach to have. I want a coach who is confident in his decisions. Granted I'd also rather have a coach who confidently doesn't start Wondo than one who confidently does...

Argentina wasn't losing to anyone today. Can't wait till the eventual penalty shootout loss for them on Sunday.

And to be fair, both times Besler has played at LB have been actually pretty good.
