I guess this was well made, but it was not for me at all. Just incredibly tedious, which I guess was the point.
One of the major 2021 works I am dying to see. Would prefer a theater but I haven’t kept up with the release
It's great. Every one of his films is incredible in its own way. The ending reveal of what is causing the sound has upset some people, but this is a guy who had a catfish perform oral sex on a woman so I don't know what they were expecting
I’m trying to catch up to seeing all his work. Only seen Uncle Boonmee and Cemetery of Splendor thus far and they are both transcendently beautiful films.
Yeah this is really great and second only to Drive My Car for 2021 movies for me. Fortunate to have seen it in theaters twice now given how horrendously Neon fumbled the bag. A second watch is almost required imo: the first time I just allowed myself to be subsumed in the sheer vibe and then the second time gave me more space to pay attention to the themes, which I found to be pretty consistent with Apichatpong's other stuff, the idea of the universe being this entirely shared conscience and stuff like that
I’m obsessed with this guy’s films but they’re hard to find. I’ve only seen two so far. I’m not really one to seek out leaked films but it might be hard to resist when it comes to Weerasethakul.
Check your local library and if they don't have it see if they can borrow it for you from another library. Got my hands on Blissfully Yours and Tropical Malady that way
Is there a reason why he makes his films so inaccessible? Or is it not him and just the system that makes them inaccessible?
Have you seen Uncle Boonmee? That’s still available on a few apps, if I’m not mistaken. A masterpiece of a movie.
Finally getting to see this this weekend and glad I didn't cave and watch the copy that's been on my hard drive for 6+ months
That was such a cool film. The ending was beyond unexpected, really cool for a movie like this to actually give an explicitly answer haha
