As a writer myself, its existence—and its unswerving will to exist—has motivated me to work on my novel. I’m very grateful for this film.
What is the point of that montage? Some of those are just regular scenes. We all know there are some bizarre moments in the movie but some people are just digging.
It is so baffling why a lot of people wanted, and still continue to want, to bury and ridicule this movie. Red One is out there.
Seriously. God forbid we get a kooky, philosophical film from an auteur every once in a while. There is plenty of trash out there that’s way more offensively bad but for whatever reason gets popularized.
Most bad movies are generically bad and forgettable and belong in the “Movies That Didn’t Actually Happen” thread. This one is bad in a very unique way that makes it extremely memorable. The bad-but-funny scenes stick with people
This was mostly very entertaining, also very messy, outright bad at times, and better than I expected in places. So overall, about as insane as I was anticipating. Driver didn't know what movie he was in, which is probably true for everyone here, but somehow, LaBeouf and Plaza mostly nailed the tone of their performances. Coppola should have casted Biff Wiff instead of Jon Voight. That bow and arrow scene felt like an ITYSL moment.
It's interesting because LaBeouf and Plaza were my least favorite parts of this and I thought Driver was great.
I love that they had the trope of an impossibly large breakfast spread that the characters barely touch. You don't really see that in movies anymore.
This felt like Southland Tales by way of Baz Luhrmann, with a little bit of Wachowskis for good measure.
