I only dislike White Noise out of those movies. Driver is one of the best/most interesting actors right now.
That is one of the best current actor filmographies right now. There will always be money to be the new Batman or something. He took the ideal route in the modern environment: take the big franchise money to secure yourself financially and then be a real artist. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson did the same thing.
He’s on an amazing run. Once again people only concerning themselves with box office performance of those movies rather than asking themselves - is he doing interesting work?
Aubrey Plaza’s character was the best part of this wonderfully indulgent film. “Dammit, Jerry.” Also, anyone who thinks this is the worst movie they’ve ever seen hasn’t seen enough movies.
All of the lame putdowns and calling this "Megaflopolis" is just so disheartening. Every week there is mindless, studio-driven nothing films that will be forgotten a few weeks after they hit streaming, made solely to push intellectual property and try to sell as many tickets as possible. Coppola could have kept cranking out Godfathers or did more studio work like Jack but he gave up so much to make the film he wanted to make. It feels almost anti-art to go so aggressively after this movie when you had Madame Web and The Crow earlier this year and you are going to have awards bait preening for attention starting soon.
I wonder what the other "movie brats" (Coppola-Lucas-Scorsese-De Palma-Spielberg) thought. She might never give a straight answer but I would love to hear Sofia Coppola's unfiltered thoughts.
probably the worst movie i’ve ever seen. stinks out loud. absolute cheeks. only aubrey and shia seemed to know what movie they were in and acted accordingly
