Listening back to Here, Here and Here I think it's very obvious that they were at their peak. The album is super diverse, catchy, clever and they sound energized. Really special album right there.
Here Here and Here is definitely their best piece of work. The title track, Fighting for Nothing, Hug Me and Are There Giants Too are top 10 songs of theirs.
Yeah already gave this like 3-4 turns and this is easily top 5 of the year. What I like is that almost every song has just a touch of edge or something unique to it that makes you go "ooh cool". Distraction and teenagers are definitely the show stealer. American spirit is solid, dear heart is beautiful, koala is a good jam, better at being young is solid, and warm bloods a good foot tapper
So excited to see them tonight. But very bummed they haven't been playing a single Cocoon song. And are leaning WAY harder on Something Real than Here, Here and Here. I feel like this is always the risk with reunited bands. They feel like they have to please the most regressive "play the early stuff" segment of their fanbases.
In LA they played 4 from Something Real and 3 from Here Here and Here, so I wouldn't call that "leaning way harder." But yeah, only one from It's Always Stormy in Tillamook and nothing from Cocoon. I was personally pretty satisfied with that setlist, though; only wish they'd played "Hug Me."
Pretty solid setlist, but they're playing a little too much of the new album. I'd be happy if they took one out and replaced it with Teddy Loves Her.
The Our Home Is Gone songs on setlist.fm are bullshit. They're def playing the Something Real arrangements, no?
Oh, shoot, didn't notice that's what those were. So yeah, that's twice as many songs from Something Real than Here Here and Here.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a borderline miracle I get to see them again. But yeah it’s a shame to neglect an album as incredible as Cocoon (which contains, for my money, their best song)
Christmas album coming out next week Track List: 1. Let it Snow 2. December, Darling 3. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas 4. Winter Wonderland 5. Christmas All The Time 6. Lights Blown Out 7. It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year 8. White Christmas 9. The Christmas Song 10. Christmas Tree
That's awesome, and it looks to be original songs too! I'm honestly pretty tired of artists just covering the same standards, so writing their own originals is much more exciting to me these days
Yep listened for the first time this morning and agree, it's pretty great. Their original tunes on here are beautiful.
