I love the idea of this, maybe more than I actually like the music. Amazing how they've pulled this off though.
been jamming it for a bit and its wild how some of these transitions are pulled off. Cool to randomly hear some call backs to older tunes
This only is getting better. I was not expecting to wake up to a full MEREX LP today, let alone this wildness.
Big respect to them for trying something different but I'm not really feeling this musically. There's some cool stuff going on but with a few exceptions/chunks it's pretty samey to me. I can't really see myself listening to the whole thing much, and the individual segments are too short to pick out and put in a playlist. Oh well. Glad others are digging it. Very talented band though, love the EPs.
This is really nice! It all kind of blends together, but I am absolutely loving having it on in the background right now. Also, here's a good interview about it: Interview: ME REX On Their Highly Unusual Debut Album ‘Megabear’
Spotify shuffle adds like a split second of pause between songs and kind of ruins the entire concept. Even if i download all the songs it doesnt work. Only get seamless transitions if i play in order
This is probably my album of the year at this point, I love it so much. I see the same-iness as a feature, not a bug, it's kind of the point. It's like a 32 minute long song that's different every time you hear it.
I feel like they severely limited their audience by making this so long. I do like the songs though for the most part from what I've listened to so far.
Lol my bad I didn't notice when I was listening while working maybe I even finished it I'm not sure. Still seems silly to have 52 songs for 30 minutes.
Counterpoint: This record (and the songs within) is amazing and the only "work" you have to do is hit shuffle.
