I enjoyed this. This band is 8/8 for me. Their music is never game changing, but you know what you’re getting and they keep the quality consistent.
I think By The Way is still the best song on here. 4,000 days is also really good. I thought it was interesting to place an interlude on this album though.
For anyone interested, I recently had Derek on my podcast and that episode came out a few days ago. We talk about 'Sweet', the forthcoming trilogy it's a part of, some highlights from the past 20 years, and also his favourite Jimmy Eat World album.
Jason Lancaster shared the upcoming Mayday Parade tour flyer a few days ago. Probably nothing, who knows https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1BxArGSM8g/
that was pretty dope - and also wow they really have some production on this tour. I've never seen them on a headlining run and this might just convince me to buy tickets. Not that they "need" him, but it would be dope to get some new music with Jason (and preferably heavy)
I didn't realise they had a new album but I just saw a recent setlist and I'm very impressed these guys were actually playing something from each album, and not just A Lesson in Romantics x10 and one other song
I'm sure it's been mentioned in the thread before, but Derek mentioned on the Lead Singer Syndrome podcast recently that the entire trilogy is "Sweet, Sad, Sugar" so I'm not really expecting any of it to be groundbreaking. I would love to be wrong.
New song is cool. It will get some rotations for sure. Nothing has grabbed me as much as “by the way” or “more like a crash” recently.
