A Lesson in Romantics Mayday Parade Monsters in the Closet Black Lines Anywhere But Here I love polished Mayday Parade.
Black Lines>>>A Lesson in Romantics>>Mayday Parade>Monsters in the Closet>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Anywhere But Here The new song is... a little better? Still not feeling their return to being so cleaned up. ABH will forever be their low point though, I can't name a single song I've even thought about from that record since it came out.
Their difficulty in adjusting to life without Jason was very, very apparent. But then they bounced back marvelously because S/T is great.
Monsters in the Closet S/T Anywhere But Here A Lesson in Romantics Black Lines I’ve never been into ALIR outside of a few highlights. Just didn’t like Jason’s songwriting in the band, really.
I had liked a couple songs here and there before black lines. Really liked Black Lines though, partly because it seemed like they were trying different things than thier previous stuff. The two songs I've heard from this just do nothing for me. It sounds the album I expected them to make instead of black lines.
S/T Black Lines ALIR Monsters ABH It's always near impossible for me to rank Mayday albums / songs, and my answer changes a lot (especially when considering enjoyment of the music vs. emotional and personal significance), but S/T will always be at the top for me. What a damn good record. Unrelated - looking more into the lyrics on Never Sure, and wow is this a step back. I like the song musically but these lyrics are definitely taking away from my enjoyment of it.
Yeah that’s the impression I got from just skipping through Monsters and ABH. Won’t be giving them second chances. Although I think the title track for ABH is a guilty pleasure already.
Pretty excited about this album. The two new songs are so good. Been listening to Black Lines and Self-titled all day.
Yeah I thought they were headed in an awesome direction with Black Lines. Thats definitely my favorite albums of theirs.
YO I just realized I got sent an advance copy of this album to review and didn't notice! Will post thoughts later.
Damn, I’m so jealous haha. If you’re able to give any details, how’s the closer? Also, I like this single a lot. Especially the double-layered vocals at the end
The closer is really emotional, lyrically it’s a wish to return to more innocent youthful days but feels sincere and relatable. Overall this album strikes such a perfect balance between old and new. It still feels like they learned a lot from making Black Lines, and there’s also influences that feel totally new for them.
New song is pretty cool musically. Little meh lyrically. Honestly, I thought that they had progressed past this lyrical style. Little disappointed. Will probably give the whole album at least one listen.
It’s okay. Better than Never Sure but neither comes close to Piece of Your Heart. Anticipation for this album is dropping
