hot take: Halsey was better in their two-ish minutes in this than in their 53 minute companion film for IICHLIWP
i say someone who's bad at impressions trying to do a combination of Staten Island meets Gangster from the 20s
Finally got to see this tonight and really enjoyed it a lot just like I did the other two. They're so different from each other that it's really hard to rank/compare them, which is a pretty fucking cool thing to be able to say about a single movie trilogy Acting and especially the cinematography/editing was phenomenal. Story wasn't my favorite of the three but I don't really go to these movies for that lol I'll definitely buy it if they release a box set of these on Blu-Ray
The 80's sleaze vibe was on point There are a lot of 80's movies I want to go back and rewatch now. For some reason Lost Boys and Robocop are the first ones that came to mind to watch again after seeing this.
Huge disappointment for me. Felt really underbaked and like it never found its groove. Also surprisingly light on aesthetic? And everything else? Easily my least favorite of the three. It had some fun moments but not enough for me to consider this good. And why did it feel like Mia had very little to do? Lol
The only good part about this movie imho Sorry everyone! I’ll be quiet now. It’s just been a while since I’ve been disappointed by a movie I was expecting to love.
If anything, I felt like it was a little too heavy on the aesthetic at times. The digital-looking 80s newscast, the New Coke drop, etc.
I can’t decide whether I actually thought it was light on aesthetic or if the aesthetic it did have just wasn’t very interesting to me. Sorry to shit on this movie, I know you really enjoyed it! Maybe I’ll wake up feeling a little better about it but right now I’m just kind of bummed. I’ve wondered this before but now I’m really curious if Mia’s co-writing credit on Pearl is something that helped really elevate that one.
