Do you not like Verhoeven movies typically? Robocop fits in nicely with some of his best but if you don’t like his style of satire I can see why you might not dig it I guess
I mean this sincerely and not meanly at all: "RoboCop sucks" is truly one of the most baffling media opinions I've ever seen, unless you straight-up do not like action movies, sci-fi movies, or satire
I like the satire! I dislike the scenes of awkward 1:1 macho male bravado. Like the one where the guy dips his two fingers in the other guys wine and then the other guy continues to drink the wine.
It’s fine, I’m being nit picky. It’s a random scene between the crime boss (Red from that’s 70’s show) and the other crime guy who runs the coke lab. The scene I mention above is one of many where it’s macho male dialogue dialed up to 11 so the cheese factor is too high for me. Those are the only scenes that make it suck for me. The rest - including the news clips & commercials - is all good.
Didn’t know what else the director did. Looked him up. Starship Troopers is perfection. So is Total Recall.
I wanted to like this but it just didn’t land for me. Easily the weakest of the three (Pearl is the best by a mile).
Pearl>X=Maxxxine It blows my mind that Ti West and Mia Goth made a horror film trilogy with 3 vastly different aesthetics and styles but had consistent themes throughout. Truly mind blowing stuff. Maxxxine and X are so fun and nail their beats perfectly. Pearl is just on another level and a beautiful character piece.
