Cameron Webb is a great producer as he proved on Is This Thing Cursed. Will he be producing the entire thing or just Matt's parts / engineering? I thought that Mark and Travis really like working with Feldmann so I assume he will be the main producer of anything they put out.
I still really dig NINE for what it is (Blink taking a stab at writing "modern" sounding "pop" songs), and a few of those songs have found their way into my "Blink playlist." But I feel like that record didn't do what the band was hoping it would. The mainstream didn't seem to care about it, they struggled to find a single that could gain any sort of real traction, etc. So between that "Quarantine" song they released, Feldmann saying that they were going back to writing "punk" songs, and them apparently recording with Cameron? I'm wondering if they're going to attempt a "back to basics" record next time around. I can hear the interviews now: "Yeah, with NINE we were experimenting. But now we just want to get out there and rock!"
I’d guess you’re right. Part of isolating and not having your own recording studio would be to find someone who can help facilitate your contribution. Matt’s worked with Cameron, and if geographically and logistically it works, record it, and go form there. If that means sending files to Feldmann or whomever, just keep the process moving and see what comes of it.
So what happens when Skiba is on just as many records as Tom? Are there going to be legit Tom era vs. Skiba era debates? The new age Sammy vs. Dave. The future freaks me out.
More Skiba than Tom records means lots lots of new Blink music which a I am all for. I think people can respect and the past and the present. Tom obviously played a huge role in this band, and you still have the Blink records he made and he’s still actively making music with AVA. It’s Skiba time now, and I’ve really enjoyed the first two records he’s done with Blink (except the joke songs). Plus he’s kept going with Alk3. People with always debate because it’s the fun thing to do. Both versions of the band will have had Mark and Travis (most of the time), and those two have made a lot of good music.
Will be a pretty 2 sided debate for most fans. Tom was an integral part of Blink being the Blink we all love. When you think.of Blink 182, you immediately think of the Tom era.
They did change their name to Angels and Airwaves for Neighbourhoods or Boxcar Racer for Untitled so I think they can keep going as Blink. Plus Mark was the main vocalist of +44, and we’ve got two vocalists here with Matt. And they play Blink songs live. Soooo.......I kind of think it’s up to them. Plus I’m sure Tom appreciates the money he’s still probably making off Blink that he would t get if they were +44.
Tom gets his cut on everything Blink is attached to, forever. Regardless of his involvement. That’s why he has no urgency to ‘get back in the band’. He has his cake and boy does he eat it.
I he never tries to get back in the band. Eventually if they were ever at a point of having him guest on a non album single for some kind of something special that could be fun hearing Mark, Matt and Tom on something, but Blink seems better off and more productive without him.
What are you talking about?! It's like The Cure without Robert Smith, Metallica without James Hetfield, U2 without Bono or Kanye West without Kanye West haha it's definitely not blink-182 anymore. Its like a really baaad blink-182 cover band. Listen to the old songs live with Skiba !AWEFUL! They can be a band Mark, Travis, Matt yes but please this is not blink-182...
