Death Touches Us, From the Moment we Begin to Love Supporter

I almost got VIP but got Darren Hayes tickets last week. This was my first time seeing Matt and it was everything u expected him to be live and more. I just love a musician who can keep the crowd laughing as much as they are singing. Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson are the other two I can recall that I've seen live to keep the crowd going like that.

He played Long Distance Runner by request. Did about 6 songs off Boston Accent. Someone yelled out to play Answering Machine but he kept with the setlist lol.

I was hoping for Sing Me Sweet! One of my favourite songs of his.

Fall to Pieces and Answering Machine used to be staples in his set - two of my favorites!

My wife and I saw him in Baltimore 2 weeks ago and it was one of his better sets notwithstanding how sick he and Aaron were.

Our wedding song was Faster so it great to hear that. All in all it was one of the best sets I've seen from him.

Yeah, you can tell Matt was still fighting illness and he wasn't hitting some falsetto parts like he normally would. But he was going hard during Suspended.

Before Come On Get Higher he started to play Bryan Adams "Heaven" which got the crowd singing really loud that he felt like he couldn't play his hit song after a song like that.

There was a bunch of songs I wish he'd play but I guess when you're over ten studio albums in. You only get so much. Definitely will see him every time he plays Toronto going forward.

I am hoping since Beneath These Fireworks is having its 20th anniversary, that it may finally get pressed to vinyl. Matt has previously said it was doubtful it would because Universal still owns the masters. I am hoping that changes because the demand for it is there.

We got some fun interludes in our set as well. Certainly did not expect him to start playing the opening riffs from Ace of Spades by Motorhead and Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne!

He told me once that he doubted Some Mad Hope would ever get pressed, and that happened. Maybe it's a project Craft Recordings would take on.

Yeah that was my hope for the 20th anniversary of Beneath These Fireworks. Also a 10th anniversary repress of Last of the Great Petenders because I don't own that one yet!

Pretenders disappeared so gradually that I never thought it would be hard to find. Didn't snag one and now I'm kicking myself.

That is kind of my wish for it. I just hope it is not another RSD release, I had to buy Some Made Hope online after being empty handed on Black Friday at Rough Trade NYC.

I found a random copy at Shuga Records in Chicago in 2020 and I was super lucky.

It was readily available on Amazon when I got Sings His Sad Heart in 2018 then it slowly dwindled in availability and now goes for quite a bit.

I heard him sing fall to pieces during a FREE concert at my college in fall of 2003!

Was on a patreon zoom he did last night. He played the new song acoustic, then played some iPhone demos of how the song started. Was cool to hear about the process.

album is still being recorded, but most of the songs are love songs for his wife, which he said he’s never really done for an album before.

Bumping this thread again to share a(nother) story.

I'm in Matt's Patreon, and get access to his discord.
I purchased VIP for his tour this summer for the NH date, but, my husband received news that he was not only receiving a heart transplant, but a kidney transplant as well. Things moved pretty suddenly, and the hospital found a donor the Friday before the show. Obviously, I couldn't make it anymore.
I emailed the VIP team explaining the situation, asking if there was any way someone could snag my VIP swag, or if they could mail them to me, and they flat out said "no."
I was bummed and shared the info in the discord channel; well, someone on his team saw it and his merch guy shared his email with her to make sure I get the items.
Then, someone I've met in the discord channel was attending VIP and shared our story with Matt. He remembered who I was, and on Monday he popped on the Discord channel to check in on my husband and I, and share his well wishes for this very scary journey.
I'm telling you, Matt's just one of the best out there.

We saw Matt last Saturday in St Augustine. We didn’t do VIP this tour but he’s always a great time regardless.

    Best wishes to your family!

Did my first listen through King of (Un)Simple this morning. A solid collection of songs, probably like it a little bit more than Boston Accent.

I completely forgot about the new album until I got the shipment notification for my vinyl a few days ago. Looking forward to giving it a listen, and seeing him live in a few weeks. Always a good time.

Haven't listened to the new album yet, but we are seeing him in Orlando in 2 weeks. Ended up surprising my wife with VIP tickets at Christmas. Stoked he's bringing the wheel back!

I don't love the openers compared to his usual support, but I am looking forward to seeing him on 2/28!

Album is really good. I wish it were a little longer, though, considering how many songs we'd already heard.

Exactly my thoughts. I still think Map at the Mall and Pablo Picasso are the standouts. But Simple Chords caught my attention on the first listen.

"Whitney Houston" is probably my favorite, but I really love "Move to the Moon" and "Simple Chords" too. Honestly, every song is pretty stellar other than "Something You Wanted," which feels a bit like it was airlifted in from a different album.
