Mat Kearney - January Flower (May 21, 2021)

Not sure how many are into him on here but I love him and one of his songs is my favorite song of all time.

I love Nothing Left To Lose so I always give his albums a shot, but none of them have stuck with me outside of a couple songs.

 

Love Nothing Left to Lose and City of Black and White. Like Young Love. Enjoy parts of Just Kids. His last album was genuinely awful, though. Just cloying, disposable pop songs. I hope he bounces back with this.

 

@ItsAndrew which song is your favorite song of all time?

 

“Nothing Left to Lose” is my favorite song of all time. I heard it ages ago and fell in love with it! I saw him live a few years ago and it was really amazing, partly because I finally got to hear that song live but I think he’s just a solid performer live as well and he has lots of other songs I think are good (but I agree, not everything he has put out is great).

 

I have a lot of fondness for that song and that album as well. I’ve only seen him live once, on the City of Black and White tour, but he was great. He was absolutely one of my favorite artists for a few years there. Kind of lost me a bit after Young Love, though.

 

I wasn't sure what to expect from this album, after really not liking the last one, but these songs are hitting the spot right now. Should be a great summer album.

 

Agreed, I’m loving the newest track. Very hyped for this record!

 

Same. I think this one and "Pontiac" are my favorites so far.

 

Really looking forward to this album compared to his last two. This Acoustic EP he just released is back to where I think he really shines.

New single Headlights Home. Absolutely love this!

 

About 3/4 of the way through the new album. Have to give it another go when I can listen closer, but first thoughts are that I like it, but not nearly as much as January Flower

 

I had similar first impressions. With a few more listens I think it'll grow on me a bit more. I'd definitely put it above Crazytalk and Just Kids.
