Seeing them tonight in Chicago and I’m hoping seeing H&G tunes live will sell me more on the record. I’ve barely returned to it but when I put it on, it feels a bit like a chore.
I saw a chunk of their set in Philly and it was good but def felt a bit like the album just sort of a chore…I didn’t stay the whole time but my ticket was free and my phone died
I love this band but rarely listen to their albums in full (except Crack the Skye, flawless front to back) bc they do get kind of chore-y, I very much enjoy them in smaller/medium doses.
Yeah Crack the Skye is the only front to back listen from me. I have a playlist with around 4 or 5 songs from each album and I always spin.
I'm probably in the minority of having Emperor of Sand as my favorite, but even that one is a chore to get through sometimes. Hushed and Grim has two things going against it. One, the songs are probably too long and there are too many of them. Two, the production is EXHAUSTING.
I def haven’t revisited this much, I agree with others in here that it’s a bit of chore to get through. Hate saying that considering how personal the album is to the band and it’s a solid album that said but it’s just not ultimately my thing.
I'd include Blood Mountain in that list, but agree it's been diminishing returns ever since. Though I do like all of their records.
Once more round the sun is the best complete album experience in my opinion, just a nice lean heavy metal record
Crack the Skye and Once More Round the Sun are the ones I revisit the most when I feel like listening to this band
Smh their recent is great. Also I have no problem listening all the way through their respective albums. Except The Hunter
The dudes were on FIRE last night. Easily the best I've ever seen them (out of 3 shows). Highlights for me: Bladecatcher directly into Black Tongue was pure bliss and seeing The Czar live was all I needed.
We saw them a couple weeks back for the first time. Amazing set, they sounded great. No complaints about their setlist! Opeth was also amazing, they were a first time live for me as well after being a fan for ages. Also Khemmis is cool!
I wish I had seen them on that tour they did with Cursive and These Arms are Snakes. To this day, that is the strangest line up I've ever seen.
