i would argue we are in phase 3.0 now. 1.0 being call, remission and leviathan; 2.0 being blood, crack and hunter, and 3.0 being the last three.
kind of think you can work back in pairs. Hushed and Grim - Emperor of Sand OMRTS - The Hunter CtS - Blood Mountain Leviathan - Remission
Does Brent really have many brain cells left? Anytime I hear him or read what he says, it seems pretty clear he's a dude who's done way too many drugs and is permanently messed up or is really just high 24/7.
Right, yeah, I've gotten a similar vibe from him for a while but he still said it so like it's not an excuse.
Right, I'm not giving him an excuse, just that him saying wild an offensive stuff really doesn't seem out of left field for him.
I've been messing around with Amazon Music HD for lossless streaming, and for most albums I can't tell that much of a difference if any at all, but all the production issues kind of go away for this album when I'm listening to it that way.
honestly this record is stunning and feels like it flies by. pretty easily their best since crack the skye.
Absolutely. I do wish there were more Brent vocals but his solos are top notch and help make up for it. I also feel like Troy’s vocals are the strongest they’ve been in a while.
fwiw, not that it excuses anything and brent seems to be a shitty idiot, but brann responded to a fan of theirs regarding the bullshit brent said on the podcast. certainly seems like the other band members do not share his views One member of MASTODON uses a gay metal hero as a costume while another uses gay as a negative slur – Metal Riot
I really don't dig some of the ballads here. If I'm sitting down to listen to the whole album I won't skip them, but there is a balls to the wall 11 track album here that is incredible. Skeleton of Splendor, Dagger, Had It All, and Eyes of Serpents (please don't kill me) are all meh to me in the context of an 86 minute album. Take those out and we are looking at an insanely good hour long album.
