This was my most-played album on Spotify in 2017. It makes for a great listen while running, so I can't say I am too surprised.

 

Sulton's Curse is such a rad song, holy shit.

 

This album still rules, and is mere centimeters behind Crack The Skye as my fav Mastodon album.

 

Precious Stones through Ancient Kingdom is a flawless 5 song run.

 

"Ancient Kingdom" is in my top 5 Mastodon songs, for sure.

Bump

The solo on Roots Remain is so tasty. This may be their best since CtS imo. It holds up so well.

 

This album definitely still slaps. Sultan’s Curse, Steambreather, Roots Remain, Ancient Kingdom, Andromeda, and Jaguar King all rule. I’m sure I’m forgetting some others too.

 

This album rules, way better to me than One More Round the Sun and The Hunter

 

I prefer OMRTS to this one, but this album definitely grabbed me more than The Hunter did

 

This is my favorite Mastodon record, barely edging out Crack The Skye. Massive hooks and every performance is top notch. I feel like some of the songs on CtS meander a little too much and I’m not talking about the 2 epics haha.

 

I remember when the album first came out and Steambreather was an INSTANT highlight for me, and then they picked it for the second single later on. I always like when you can pick out a song from an album before it becomes an eventual single.

 

Having a nice IPA whistle BBQING some shrimp burgers, and listening to this PERFECT ALBUM

 

Got excited for this bump, because I was just thinking we were due something soon. I've been listening to the new Gojira tracks and they remind me of this to an extent.
