I’ve enjoyed every episode thus far at face value more so because it’s an interesting part of the War I’ve not seen much about, but it feels like it’s missing some magic piece that would bump it to BoB/TP level and I’m not sure what that piece is.

Liked the mention of The Great Escape, but not actually showing it.

Also for some reason I thought The Great Escape happened much later in the war.

And yeah this is a perfectly ok series, but I think the impossible expectation of lumping this in with BoB kind of doomed it to always seem "less than" in people's eyes.

This is just alright. Not great but not terrible.

One of the issues is everyone dies. There’s what 3 main characters that have been in every episode and even then we don’t spend a ton of time with them always. So it’s less about the characters and just about what happens to the 100th.

Another thing is this isn't very narratively cohesive. BoB and Pacific took a couple detour episodes, but they mainly followed mostly the same characters together doing the same thing in the same place. It gave you the feeling like you're with these guys in combat from beginning to end.

With this you're simultaneously following a bomber crew story, a spy story, a romance story, a prison story, and soon to be a fighter pilot story from the entire other part of the European theatre. Its kinda all over the place.

Finished out the series pretty well.

Perfectly okay show that was never going to hold the weight of the BoB comparisons. PS4 tier CGI. Scattershot unfocused plot. Insanely cheesy and sappy at times. All it's "was the death and destruction we caused worth it?" talk fell totally flat because they really showed very little of the death and destruction they actually caused. Not even a mention of Dresden.

    Fight the long defeat.

Yeah, I'd give this maybe a 7/10 overall. I liked the finale episode well enough, but the remembrance of friends left behind being sandwiched into a pre-flight check at the end was comically bad to me.

The WW2 movie convo in the politics thread last week made me go back and rewatch some scenes from this show . Man I forgot how disappointing this was. One of the biggest TV ball drops of the 2020's so far.

Agreed, compared to its sibling series, it's hard to praise this.
