Masterpieces?

I was texting a friend this morning about the re-recording of Thrice’s “The Artist and The Ambulance.” We started using the word masterpiece and it made me think.

What are the masterpieces of the scene? (However you define that, genre, time period, whatever, free parameters here).

Masterpiece isn’t your favorite album, you might not even like it. It’s also not necessarily an “important” album. It’s just an album that, on the whole, is truly masterful.

I don’t have answer. YC’s “Ocean Avenue” comes to mind as does NFG’s “Sticks and Stones.”
I look forward to any thoughts people have.
