Absolutely has to be the case. Master of None was always about Dev and sought Indian representation in a television landscape that, for the most part, has little to none of that. This season seems to be about something completely different. Super weird.
it might be the case that this was shoehorned into being master of none but shows doing seasons about something else entirely from previous seasons is hardly something new
I think a much more likely explanation is that Aziz wanted a paycheck but knew it’d go over better if it wasn’t about him lol
I am close to as sure as I can be that Aziz wrote at least an outline for a season arc about everything he did/the fallout and had to be talked out of producing it
ding ding ding wasn’t that essentially what happened in the season 2 finale but he tried to paint himself as the hero?
That was about another character being MeToo’ed though, right? I’m guessing that Aziz wrote about his own character going through that and ultimately opted against it. It’s all gross regardless
i think it was bobby cannavale and aziz’s character took the morale high ground and turned down a job to continue working with bobby after he heard about the allegations which .... like, jesus christ lol
The whole show was about how nice of a guy Aziz was and how he was just a hopeless romantic who made some little oopsies every once in a while. There's really no way to do that with a straight face anymore given what we now know about him. That said, I'm sure when it comes time to make season 4 he'll be way more comfortable that the heat has died down enough for him to star in the show again.
I've seen pretty much nothing but disappointment everywhere that he's not the star of the season, I don't really think this is the case. Honestly this site is the only place I really still see people being totally anti-Aziz (not that I'm defending him)
