Was browsing his IMDB, and I didn't realize that apart from his more notable works, Schrader makes B-movie Nic Cage movies?
Some new projects from him: a script to be directed by Antoine Fuqua, a script he optioned to have Elizabeth Moss direct, and his next film is with Richard Gere about a writer encroaching death (hmmmmmmm)
This is definitely a Paul Schrader film. Some really cringey dialogue. Definitely the most romantic of the trilogy, felt like there was some subtext about Paul's current life
I think Paul kind of loses control of the subject material here but the fact it’s not an out and out embarrassment is a testament to how good he is at this and his love and belief in redemption for flawed, broken people comes through in an effective way once again. A good movie
