Anyone watch this yet? Thinking about checking it out tonight, wanted to know other people's thoughts.
i watched it yesterday, it was pretty good. It starts out a little slow but once they get near the completion it's pretty golden. It's really just classic christopher guest so if you've seen his other movies you know what you're getting, just with more recent actors.
This Is Spinal Tap is sort of a must watch imo, it's one of the best comedies ever made. Best In Show and A Mighty Wind are also amazing. He has a very unique formatting and style of comedy, it's very subtle. The first time I watched Spinal Tap a lot of it was lost on me, but the second time I thought it was a riot.
Watch Best In Show first. Spinal Tap, while essential, wasn't directed by Guest and has a slightly different vibe than the other Guest directed films.
and don't forget about Waiting For Guffman... wasn't mentioned in the previous post, but it's also great.
Yeah forgot he didn't direct Spinal Tap, I think it's a good introduction into his style of comedy though since it is a little flashier haha
I laughed more than I should have. I feel like if I tell people to watch this cause I laughed a lot, and they did, they'd come back and tell me I was crazy and that they hated it. It's one of those movies.
This was pretty on par with Guest's previous work. While I liked the addition of newcomers, I wished Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara was in this.
I thought this is was alright, but it felt like maybe there was either too many characters or it too short because it felt a little rushed. I wished we got more time with each character. I also feel like the mockumentary format that Christopher Guest has pioneered has been done so much recently especially on tv that it seems a bit tired even when he does it, but that's definitely not his fault.
Was definitely rushed, would also have liked more time with the characters as they weren't given as much time to develop as in his past films (or from what I remember of them) That being said, I laughed a bunch and had a great time with it, really liked it overall
I'm halfway in and I just cant stop thinking of best in show. I dont hate it but I guess I had higher hopes.
Yeah, this definitely felt a little on the short side. I enjoyed the back end a lot more than the front.
