I’m glad Loki’s change of character remained. He gave up a spot at the ultimate throne for a chance to keep the multiverse at peace.

Now he is back at step 1 due to him being in a different universe. The question now is if Sylvie sent him to another universe or if we are already seeing universes mix due to Immortus Kang being killed.

easily the best episode of any of the shows bc it had actual stakes for once and bc Majors rules

i wonder how this will play in with the Eternals. in the comics, his character is a peer of Goldblum’s. it seems like they’re setting this up where Goldblum is under his purview. i wonder if the eternals are similar or if they’re “aware” of all this

Technically we don't have confirmation this was Immortus. It could simply be that, in the MCU, He Who Remains is yet another version of Kang, like Immortus and Iron Lad.

In fact, because of his demeanor in this episode, I'm inclined to think this wasn't Immortus. I feel like he was a little too eccentric and jumpy to be Immortus. This is like an even further evolution of Kang's character beyond the point where he was Immortus. The "final" version of Kang, perhaps.

didn’t the actual creator say it’s an amalgamation of Immortus and another version themselves?

I'm just saying that there literally could still be a character called "Immortus" in the MCU after this, if they wanted to. He's even credited as "He Who Remains" in this episode. Obviously this character has some of Immortus' classic traits but his personality is different. As if this is what happened to Immortus' mental state after spending untold amounts of time in that citadel all by himself. So if this is "He Who Remains", then we haven't met Immortus yet, just like we haven't yet met Kang or Iron Lad or Rama-Tut, etc.

He really played the “Cooped up for entirely too long” personality really well. Very unsettling

Loved this episode. So fucking stoked for whatever happens next.

This has serious ramifications for every show and movie moving forward.

For example, I just read an article that suggested this might be how we get Jane Foster Thor in Love And Thunder.

It's also conceivably how we get Fantastic Four and mutants.

Anyway, I'm now more positive than ever that What If is going to be a legit part of canon and not just a fun thought exercise.

Yeah bringing the mutants in from the multiverse somehow would be the only real way to do it at this point.

As for Fantastic Four, I think they're just going to do an origin story for them in the upcoming movie. They can easily just be said to have only recently acquired their powers.

This is where Marvel needs to be very clear with what they're doing. I feel like they can lose an audience real quick if they treat the whole multiverse the way the comics do. Keep it simple, clear and consistent. Don't have 10 different versions of the same character and the need to follow every step each version takes to understand 1 story.

I think this is where it will be helpful to have versions like Sylvie or potentially Jane Foster Thor to help differentiate variants and make things simpler to follow. That way instead of following Variant 1 and Variant 2, you're just following a particular character.

Frankly, I trust Marvel. It took them over 20 movies to get to the multiverse, I think they know how to wade people into the concept instead of going full on gonzo.

That would legit be AWESOME, he would kill in that role.
I thought that at first too but when she started using him this and him that, I felt relieved.
Oh that’s exactly how they’re gonna bring them in, especially the mutants/X-Men because it’d be way easier for them to just drop in from another universe versus trying to explain why mutants were there all along without anyone knowing about their existence.
