Also, finally watched this week's episode, and wow, it was so good. Fitz, Simmons, and Aida killing it. Cannot wait to see how all this wraps up.
Looks like it will be moving to 9 PM on Fridays next year. Inhumans will be in the spot and this will take it over in late Fall. Not too bad, given that this show has many huge breaks. ABC Fall 2017 Schedule: ‘Once Upon a Time’ Moves To Friday, ‘Black-Ish’ To Tuesday, ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Held
Yeah. Very much an odd spot. It's like a "FINE, Disney, we'll air your side crap" night for them by putting it with Once Upon A Time. We'll see though. I feel pretty confident behind Marvel/Disney shows, with them possibly making it to Netflix too.
I kinda wish someone had died in the finale. The stakes didn't feel very high. Not sure what happened with the Russians. Kinda hoping they are setting up Alpha Flight, but I doubt it.
Seems more like a set-up for SWORD, which happened to be connected to Joss Wheron. Reportedly, Fox actually has the rights because it was introduced in X-Men, but they could just refer to it as an extended SHIELD or just another name. With next season leading up to Infinity War, it would make a ton of sense. The one thing throwing it off would be 1) how do they manage the characters because this could involve Carol Danvers? and 2) do they actually give this some actual connection to the movies or Inhumans?
I found this finale generally satisfying. It was rushed in a lot of ways, with Aida's death passing by more quickly than it should have, but still lots to love. Yo-yo sitting with Mack really got me. Radcliffe just vanishing the way he did worked really well. 'Twas cool to see Ghost Rider one last time (dig his chain basically being one of those rings from Doctor Strange, lol). Daisy giving her little speech to Fitz brought the season full circle in a nice way. I'd be a lot more excited for whatever that ending set up if the show's budget weren't being reduced. Still could be cool, but after the sweet visuals this season, I'll be bummed if next season has some poorly executed sci-fi effects. Anyways, this is the only comic book television right now still improving in quality after this long, so hopefully that trend continues.
Just finished the season. I'm not gonna lie, tears were flowing when Hope disappeared out of Mack's arms.
The news coming out about this is a bummer. Sounding like ABC wanted to cancel, but Disney said they had to keep it. Hopefully they aren't just using it to tease the films going forward.
I doubt they’re teasing films. This season had very little to do with the films and was potentially the best season yet. I could see Disney wanting to extend its life because they want to pick up the show, or something tied back to Agents of SHIELD, up for exclusively showing on their new streaming app.
ABC wanting to cancel this is a bummer but really not a surprise, especially with the move to Fridays. Hopefully this upcoming season is still able to continue the show's constant upward trend in quality. And, when it does inevitably end, I hope they have the chance to create a fulfilling ending and find some new places for some of these characters to exist.
Returns Friday, December 1st, w/ a 2-hr premiere. Looks good. I was worried about the space setting combined with budgetary limitations, but looks like this will be another quality season. Cool that the Kree are part of this season. Wonder who that character is with a helmet that looks like a mix between War Machine and Xorn. (Between that character, the creatures that almost remind me of the Brood, and the setting that almost resembles SWORD, there sure are a lot of almost-X-Men-but-not-quite elements so far, lol.) I've read that this season will have different arcs like last season did, which is exciting.
The character with the helmet is Deke (played by Jeff Ward), who you see saying "All they ever want: submission." He's only been described as "the ultimate survivor and roguish scavenger, the guy who can get people what they need, but at a price of his asking." I'm excited to see where they go with the space portion and where the different segments head. I really enjoyed last season, so I hope they keep the quality up after the pretty bland Inhumans.
