Initially standalone =/= forever separate. There's no way they'd let Inhumans launch as a spinoff or tie-in series for their most underappreciated franchise, but there's also no way 2 MCU shows with Inhumans on the same network don't crossover at some point.
This show has become appointment viewing as far as I'm concerned. This three-part season has been phenomenal and done wonders for the show's ability to focus and tell concise, compelling stories. I can't wait to see how it all shakes out.
Man, it felt so good to see Trip again. I had almost forgotten about him, but his return reminded me that his S2 death is still one of the worst creative choices SHIELD has made; his charm was such a clear highlight back then. Came out of nowhere, too, though I thought I remembered the actor name BJ Britt when I saw it at the beginning of the episode. Outside of that delightful surprise, the highlights were, as usual, everything with Daisy, Fitz, Simmons, and/or Mack. Man, when Fitz and Mack return to their right minds, it's gonna be so heartbreaking, Fitz 'cause of what he's done and Mack 'cause of what the Framework temporarily gave him. Excited to see Daisy back in action as Quake.
I knew Trip would make an appearance in the Framework, so the whole time when Mace was talking about rescuing "his guy," I pretty much knew it had to be him. Would've been too great of an opportunity to waste. Also, calling it: Mace is not dead and Aida turning off his vital monitor is going to allow him to catch her off guard down the road and help save everyone.
This third of the season is being a little less than subtle with its real-life parallels... Fuck yeah.
I'm desperately hoping they can use Project Looking Glass to make Good Ward real. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
We are having a very similar discussion in the wrestling thread about turning people. Sometimes you should just leave well enough alone. I think Ward should stay dead. What they did with him here worked really well, but somethings just shouldn't happen.
Ward was the weakest link in S1 by far until his turn, and villainous Ward ran his course very effectively in S2-3, meeting his end not too soon or too late. I know there's this weird fan base for the character that'd love to see him return (and I definitely thought the details of the evil plan felt like a potential setup to bring him back), but I really hope they let him go after this. I personally think they should bring back Lincoln (who was also a weak link during his time on the show) before the end, and then let the finale be one last piece of closure on Ward, Lincoln, Trip, and Mack's daughter Hope. Trip and Hope would both be genuine good additions long-term, but thematically, this season needs to end with letting go and moving on, not further living in the past. Though, something like a final scene of the Framework world still running after the real world people escape could potentially be appropriate, depending on how it's executed.
I just want Brett Dalton back on the show. I missed him for the whole first 2/3 of this season. Don't think it's weird to enjoy him on the show and want to see him return full-time at all.
Feel like Wards story really has run its course and the show doesn't need him back full time. But if Tripp doesn't come back full time then I'm flipping a table
Give Iain his fucking Emmy already. it's funny because shows like this never get nominated for anything
Yeah, he's fantastic. Really good episode. Dunno how many episodes are left, but excited for however everything resolves in the end.
I think there's only two episodes left. But HOLY SHIT at that episode. Proper edge of your seat stuff.
Not surprised Iain De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge continue to kill it, but considering this is like the fourth iteration of Aida, I'd say Mallory Jansen has given quite a notable performance as well. Crazy episode. Looks like the finale is going to be epic.
