X-Men 97 is so fucking good. Really appreciate how much they’re expanding the roster already and I was not prepared for the E2 intro.
Would be great if they could use Nova to pick up on some of the dangling cosmic threads. coughEternalscough
It will probably keep going until an Avengers film doesn’t break $1 billion. The success of the X-Men reboot determines a lot, imo
Deadpool vs Wolverine broke a billion and that was just two years ago. Clearly people are still willing to watch the content, they just need to go back to their previous format. Let the shows be their own thing and make the films the focus, and make the events of each film matter, and spread the characters around. Everything being so isolated really hurt whatever story they were trying to tell, and made everything feel unimportant.
Adam Driver Magneto in the reboot X-Men does not get me super excited right now. A movie about Nova could be fun. I like that character and think he has cinematic potential. It’s hard not to see the Marvel Cinematic Universe as to some degree a shambling corpse of a franchise/brand, though.
I imagine that no one will actually be happy with who they pick to play Professor X and Magento and that conniption will make things harder
I'm sure people predisposed to be negative about the franchise feel this way, but the way I see it, the narrative/structural problems are solvable. From a financial standpoint, the films still make lots of money, they just cost a hell of a lot too. It's an Ouroboros thing. They need to figure out how to cut costs effectively.
To me, Magneto is only as good as his Xavier, and vice versa. I’ll wait until we get the MCU’s Charles before I settle on the idea of Driver as Erik.
