Damn, that includes nearly the entire Academy Award-winning visual development team at Marvel Studios. Many were with Marvel for over a decade. I read an article that mentioned this is partially due to Marvel shortening the number of its releases throughout 2026 and 2027. Hopefully these artists are re-hired (if they want to come back, that is) when Marvel starts to produce more films. If this is indeed a temporary situation, Disney shouldn't have an ounce of a problem to support the families.
Corporate fucks are trying to cut overheard drastically to allocate that money towards AI infrastructure. So, even if your job isn’t going to be replaced by AI, it may still get phased out to afford AI infrastructure. They aren’t going to spend money helping the folks who they’re hurting deliberately to save money.
Scummiest way to treat employees. The company I work for did the same to me last fall. Still have to travel and do the same amount of work, if not more, but without any of the benefits of being on salary. Moral compass for these companies are broken. Hopefully another company picks up some of these employees for salary and not as a contractor.
Outside of the common sense impulse to not trust these stupid, evil corporations. I’m also skeptical of this whole “slowing down production” excuse when this reportedly includes people who were there for a decade (which would predate peak oversaturation). Underpaying and generally screwing over the artists responsible for making sure their pieces of visual entertainment work… is such a quintessential Marvel thing to do.
Cosmic Circus is reporting with 100% certainty that Marvel is planning on having the core five original X-Men + 3 additional members for the first movie. No Wolverine.
“with 100% certainty” I don’t think I need the whole O5 in an X-Men movie, even if it’s plus other characters (presumably Storm is essential). Wouldn’t mind dropping one to not have too many white dudes, and I’d probably pick Beast.
Hell yeah, sounds good to me if it's true. Might as well start with the O5 to reintroduce them into the MCU.
I just thought it was worth mentioning because he usually doesn’t come outright and say something is 100% true. He usually tries to beat around the bush. Depending on who the 3 additional members are, I wouldn’t mind the 5 original members. My personal picks for the additional members would be Storm, Jubilee, and Sunfire
I'm pretty basic. If I had to choose 8, I'd choose Cyclops, Storm, Jean, Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Beast, and Jubilee, because I grew up with the 90s show.
Aside from Jubilee (mainly because she’s a fun character who was given a nearly nonexistent role in Apocalypse) I’d like to see members from the “Second Genesis” team (Storm, Sunfire, Thunderbird, and Banshee) I’d be happy with any of those four in the first film, but Storm’s popularity makes her a must-have, imo. Of Sunfire, Thunderbird, and Banshee, I’d most like to see Sunfire.
As someone who watched X-Men Evolution, I’m not anal about adaptations being strict with age cohorts. But, I do think having Jubilee too close to being a peer with Storm, Jean, & Scott is kind of a mistake. If this initial team is roughly college age, I’d say hold off on her for now. Sunfire would be a good choice. But that’d be all the more reason to drop one of the O5’s men in favor of another woman. I think Polaris would also be a good pick, though gotta watch how white the cast is. (Not factoring in potential for casting nonwhite actors, of course. Though I still need Xavier to be white, because that privilege is key to his characterization.)
I'm sure some will say his look is too similar to Human Torch, but whatever. He and Iceman together would be visually interesting.
Yeah, I understand Jubilee working better by not being peers with some of the mains. I'm just being impatient with not seeing her character have fun on the big screen. Polaris would be a good pick. I'd be ok with her replacing Beast, tbh
I just mean the fire/flame element. The costume is very different, which will help so long as they don't go into the rising sun flag imagery (which I assume Marvel isn't foolish enough to do)
