Like, I was just reminded in a reddit post yesterday that Daredevil was in it. I have absolutely zero recollection of that lmfao. I remember Fisk in it
Pretend I have no idea what Wonder Man is or what that character is. Is there a reason the teasers are staying grounded and making the show seem like it’s about the production of a super hero movie? Is it supposed to make me lean in and go “hmmm. What’s going on here? There’s no actual super heroes in this?”
Wonder Man in the Comics Simon Williams is a rival of Tony Stark whose company fails, leading him to blame Stark. He’s recruited by Baron Zemo and given ionic powers (including super strength, energy manipulation, flight, etc.), but the serum is slowly killing him. After fighting the Avengers under Zemo’s control, he eventually turns good and seemingly dies saving them—only to later be revealed as comatose, not dead. His brother, Eric Williams (Grim Reaper), thinks the Avengers imprisoned Simon and becomes a villain. Ultron uses Simon's brain patterns to create Vision, making Simon and Vision "brainwave brothers." Simon joins the Avengers and West Coast Avengers, becomes an actor/stuntman, and later develops feelings for Wanda Maximoff, leading to tension with Vision. Disappears from major stories post-1990s but appears in Avengers: Disassembled and Civil War, where he dates Wanda. Wonder Man Series (Disney+ / MCU) Premise: Simon is a struggling Hollywood actor who lands a superhero movie role as "Wonder Man." When he gains real powers, he's pressured to become a real-life hero. The show is a 30-minute Hollywood parody sitcom. Creators: Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) – director/producer Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) – showrunner/head writer Cast: Ben Kingsley (Trevor Slattery), Arian Moayed (Agent Cleary), Demetrius Grosse (Eric Williams/Grim Reaper), Ed Harris (Simon’s agent), Lauren Glazier (love interest), Josh Gad, and Byron Bowers.
So next year will have Wonder Man, Born Again s2, Brand New Day, Doomsday, and presumably X-Men ‘97 and the Vision series?
Potentially, although I've read Season 2 of Friendly Neighborhood is being presented and Vision isn't, so make of that what you will.
The extra info is helpful. I’m more curious and thinking out loud as to whether Marvel wants people to think this might actually be an unusual non-super hero series (and the actual super hero stuff will be a surprise) or if they figure everyone has google and knows who Wonder Man is and the teasers are more withholding the super hero stuff just to keep the specifics under wraps and be coy.
I am a bit wary of anything that was produced in the years before Marvel said “Just kidding! We’re scaling back on the shows and output and the multiverse!” as far as how it fits in, any new wrinkles or surprises it adds to the MCU, etc. but I’ll do what I always do with these shows and go in open to being surprised and delighted.
James Gunn talked to Ryan Reynolds about Deadpool appearing in the Peacemaker S2 finale but said there were too many hurdles in the way of it happening https://www.ign.com/articles/james-...uldve-had-to-go-through-some-pretty-big-hoops
