I mean, he's only appeared in two places, so that's not exactly a glaring example. And I'm not going to argue about the writing since you concede if there were better writing, he'd be fine, so what are we doing here? We don't have to fight.
it was a fine idea i suppose but they executed it extremely poorly. it was smart to pivot away early, absent of anything else.
Yes, I agree with this. There's a lot of things about this Saga that could have been better if they hadn't stretched themselves so thin to meet a quota.
Feige was more definitive about the potential of another highly anticipated Marvel character — Spider-Man’s Miles Morales — showing up in the MCU in the near future. “That is nowhere,” he said. Until Sony Pictures (which holds the film rights to the character) completes its animated Miles trilogy with 2027’s “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” Feige explained, “We’ve been told to stay away.” I mean, yeah. That strategy obviously makes a lot of sense. Let the animators take their time ending the trilogy well, and after that’s finished, then think of ways to do live action Miles. Plus, Tom Holland isn’t gonna want to stay committed to Peter forever. So, waiting just a bit longer makes sense on that front, too.
Feige said Marvel executives even met with the teams behind the 2023 sci-fi epic “The Creator,” which director Gareth Edwards made for a staggeringly low $80 million, to learn how they pulled it off. “I think everybody’s in that state of mind, at least at Disney,” Feige said of the belt-tightening. “I think it has to get better. Is AI going to do that? I don’t know.” Oof. I’d love to know more about the context of this quote.
Also, do any of y’all ever decide to, idk, actually click through and read the article yourself? Or are excerpts via random stupid fandom social media accounts your preferred diet.
Yes, I also have concerns about what he means regarding AI, although I'm willing to accept he's not talking about something he's considering personally. I read the article.
I wasn’t thinking of you or Pen when I said “y’all.” I was thinking of the post about an article we were already discussing, but this time shared on very relevant social media platform Threads, by the presumably very in depth source “dailycosmicmarvel.”
Can't wait for the show teaming up Moon Knight, Sharon Carter, Hercules, Starfox, Pip the Troll, Black Knight, and the Eternals. Debuting... The Plot Threads!
I'm not sure we'll ever see Starfox, Pip, or Eternals ever again. Where any of their names on the casting chairs for Doomsday?
To be fair, there's probably going to be another round of chairs, but I will be shocked if they're on any. But hey, Feige said himself they followed up on Leader so we'll see them again in Phase 19.
As much of a bummer as it is that he alluded to it being a while before some threads get tied up, at least they plan on it eventually I guess
The way I see it, it's an admission that this phase was a mistake and rather than rush resolution, let's wait for a more logical place to continue.
This might be a boring take, but I think Marvel’s biggest misstep (at least the part they could control) was how they handled Kang in Ant-Man 3. I remember that leaked audio where Kang said he killed Thor, then asked if he’d killed Scott before. It was hype and made him feel terrifying, like we were heading toward something huge, our first real disaster that would stick around until the next big crossover. But then… he lost to ants and Scott. And all that hype just vanished.
Ants aside because I think people focus way too hard on that (and I also loved that for Hank), the fight afterward just between Kang and Scott felt like Scott could die. And I remember originally they planned for Scott and Hope to be stuck there, and I think it didn't test well, which is why they changed it, which is why focus testing is the biggest threat to filmmaking, because people are fucking dumb.
