Watched CABNW on a plane. It was fine. I’d rather watch something like that than another one of this phase’s CGI-fake world movies.
That was a knowing use of a confusing acronym for what should always be [Name of Hero] [#] or the new/latest [Name of Hero].
Despite representing the deaf, disabled, and native communities, Echo felt like a chore in a way Hawkeye and Ms Marvel never did. Secret Invasion was even worse
I can’t explain why but I can’t get into the Daredevil side of the TV universe, including Echo. It maybe feels a bit walled off from everything else and doesn’t have the novelty of the Christmas buddy comedy genre that Hawkeye got to play in.
See, I enjoyed Secret Invasion for the most part. I didn't like that they killed both of Fury's main supporting cast, but I liked seeing Fury actually be at a loss, find his groove again, and have a meaningful relationship with someone. I felt Gravik actually had a solid reason to be upset, even if he eventually went off the rails. I do think Marvel has a real problem with "villains" fighting for relatable causes and holding the line, because they did that with the Flag-Smashers in FAWS too. God forbid the heroes have to deal with morally grey territory. And when Fury was with Hill and Talos, the banter was enjoyable. It sucks that the writers felt like they had to kill them, but I don't see that as a Marvel thing, I think a lot of writers confuse death for stakes, which is unfortunate. I know a lot of people would rather it been another Civil War because of the comics storyline, but I liked having a little solo Fury adventure, and they already tied him to the Skrulls via Captain Marvel, so it just made sense.
I enjoyed Secret Invasion and Echo as they aired, but they weren't good enough for me to remember a whole lot about them Personally liked them more than FatWS
I think I watched 2 episodes of Echo. I was at peak Marvel exhaustion then. I still haven't watched Loki s2. Deadpool was enjoyable (not sure if I'd rewatch) and Daredevil was solid. And I'm excited for Thunderbolts
