It was also more manageable when you were just watching new episodes on cable week to week like the rest of the world vs having the impulse to binge things heh
Basically Feige was a part of almost casting RDJ as Doom for 2005 FF, so it was his idea to bring him back because of that. Then RDJ begged the Russos to come back, but they didn't cave until McFeely struck on an idea they all liked.
I'm still not sure how I feel about this, mostly because it's really unclear what's happening here. I'm hoping Fantastic Four makes some of this clearer.
1. Feige wants RDJ to play Doom. 2. RDJ jumps on board and insists that the Russos join. 3. The Russos talk to McFeely about Feige’s idea, and McFeely develops a story around it. 4. The Russos decide to join the project after hearing McFeely’s pitch. This is similar to Infinity War: Thanos was chosen as the big bad before the story was developed. McFeely and Markus discussed the project with the Russos, and the Russos signed on once they had worked out an idea with McFeely and Markus. It basically all rests on McFeely’s shoulders. And this pretty much confirms that RDJ is indeed a Doom variant, not a Stark variant.
I don't see that it confirms anything. I think that's making a leap of logic that, while possible, isn't confirmed or denied by the evidence here. All we know is that they found a pitch they liked that involved Downey as Doom.
What I’m saying is that, given the revelation that this entire process began because Feige wanted RDJ to play Doom, it effectively rules out RDJ playing a Stark variant.
It looks like we can expect She-Hulk in Doomsday. We’ve done some digging and, yes, it does indeed sound like Maslany will be busy shooting Avengers: Doomsday heading into the summer (production begins imminently) and that’s why she had to pull out of this upcoming event. For what it’s worth, we were also told her role is expected to be “fairly significant.” While the cancellation of an appearance at a convention is true, the “fairly significant” portion is coming directly from someone at CMB, so… grain of salt
Doctor Doom is the character’s name, not just a title. Victor Von Doom can’t be a Stark variant unless there’s some Olympic-level mental gymnastics going on. Given that the story wasn’t developed to give such gymnastics, it’s pretty simple to conclude that RDJ is Victor Von Doom. The Russos also stated last year that RDJ is portraying Victor Von Doom, but fans still decided to dive into their theories.
I think you're overcomplicating this. If a variant of Loki can be named Sylvie, be female, and have a completely different personality, there is nothing to indicate a variant of Stark has to always 100% be named Tony Stark.
Sylvia is largely an original character created for the MCU and inspired by Lady Loki and Sylvia Enchantress. Victor Von Doom is not and was directly name dropped by the Russos.
Oh? Okay, since you want to get involved in this conversation, why don't you explain to me what about anything justin said confirms that the character is Doom Doom and not a variant of Tony Stark?
Sylvia is an example of Marvel creating a brand new character, yeah. But we know 1) this character is Victor Von Doom 2) Feige wanted RDJ to play Doctor Doom How does one derive ‘Stark variant’ from either of those without creating a theory that lacks any actual quote or report to support it?
What did everyone say when Downey was first cast as Doom? Wasn't the question on everyone's mind that it must be a Stark variant because there's no way they would seriously not capitalize off of Downey's face? Wasn't everyone suggesting Peter plays a big role because Doom has the face of his former mentor? Sure, it's all the rumor mill, but don't act like I'm pulling this out of thin air. I'm not even saying you're wrong, I'm saying there's not enough evidence to confirm anything. Feige wanting RDJ to play Doom and Doom being a variant of Stark are not mutually exclusive ideas. Doom is Doom, even if he's a variant of Stark. To have it not be a variant of Stark means either wanting a suspension of disbelief on the audience's part that they never comment on how he looks the same as Stark, or never actually showing his face.
No, Sylvie is also showing them using a character that’s a variant that has a different name, like Pen said. Just like we know the opposite it also true. We don’t have rules that we know of. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but saying it like it’s for certain now is weird. None of the info in that article leads to that conclusion.
The article barely has an answer for what the actual article is about, but we’re reading plot details from it. Come on now.
