The Moon Knight thing is dumb. I have zero confidence right now in them giving the Lockley revelation the attention it deserves if he's going to be part of an ensemble.

I really wish the story for Defenders was better cause I loved seeing those 4 team up. Jessica and Matt especially had such a fun dynamic

 

I don't know, I'm rewatching the Defenders and I don't have a problem with the story so much. The Hand is a fair enough threat to bring all of them together and the seeds were sown decently enough in Daredevil and Iron Fist.

I think the main problem is I think it could've benefited from a few more episodes, since we're being introduced to three of the five Hand leaders in this show and we don't get to spend a whole lot of time getting to know them or sitting with them. It would've been nice to let it simmer a little.

It would also give a chance for some events to be expanded on. Like for example, we don't actually ever see Luke beat up Sowande. Just one minute Sowande is going after Luke and the next minute Luke is bringing Sowande to the others.

But as a yarn, I think the story beats were fine. Ties together disparate elements: the Hand, their immortality, K'un-Lun, the Chaste, the Iron Fist, Elektra. Brought all four heroes together in a logical way.

 

I'd have to rewatch but the Defenders definitely felt like a bit of a letdown at the time

This was my big issue. I didn't care enough about the Hand following Daredevil and Iron Fist to really get me invested going in, and I wasn't engaged enough by them throughout the season to ever change that

 

Could they use Spider-Man though? Like just never have him out of the suit?

Marvel can do whatever they want animated, except use Tom's voice apparently.

 

Finally Marvel is getting unwoke

 

I like that it’s going to be a special and not a show. Give me more 45 minute specials and less 6 hour shows

 

I saw Punisher do a drop-in set at the Cellar last winter. Special is gonna rip.

 

Does it mean anything that Bernthal himself is developing it?

 

I do think, in general, more ensembles, whether it be tv or movie, is a better way to go with all the characters they have now.

It’s quite funny that Marvel did away with large ensembles at the same time they decided to introduce 30 characters.

Phase 4 really should have ended with an ensemble.

 

It wouldn’t have hurt for sure.
