We saw the door close in our universe but didn’t see how it affected others. It could have caused damaged. It did leave our Peter Parker with his identity being forgotten and it left Toomes in whatever universe he was sent to. Might have had repercussions in other universes.
I would not put any thought into Toomes. At least regarding that bizarre Morbius mid credit scene. I just think it would be a far weaker story if it’s because Strange made an oopsies in NHW vs his deliberate actions in MOM. Like daywalking and using the darkhold. And the result of his actions while in the universe with the Illuminati.
We’ll probably see a mix of the above. All sorts of repercussions (mentioned previously or yet to be seen) will shift the blame to Strange. Given that we won’t get Strange 3 before the Avengers films, the pivot to making Clea be a response to NWH may be something that was decided by McFeely and the Russos for the purpose of serving their narrative. If they’re taking influence from 2015 Secret Wars, this would make a lot of sense and give him a reason for taking steps similar to his comic counterpart
Oh good, Shine is saying Sony is really considering selling the Spider-Man rights to Marvel. I’ve already seen 2 separate unrelated posts on Instagram that don’t even source her. It’s gonna spread so much.
Bruce Campbell on his Marvel future “If you think I’m just a Pizza Papa…not a chance. I signed a contract that was three-inches thick. You think I’m going to sign that for a one-off? No.”
I wonder when Iron Fist is gonna show back up in the MCU. I ask that because Marvel is already setting up a new status quo for that character in other media. Fully expecting Finn Jones as Danny Rand to show back up in the MCU at some point and die so they move onto the new direction. Danny Rand recently died in the comics and was replaced by a new Chinese Iron Fist. The Iron Fist in Marvel Rivals isn't Danny Rand, but a new Chinese character. There was a lot of criticism of that character being a white guy when it was first adapted to live action. I think Marvel is paving the way to correct that. Plus I think Disney wants a superhero that appeals to the Chinese market, Iron Fist has the perfect lore for that, besides the fact he was a white dude.
It really depends on Marvel treats a Chinese Iron Fist. Shang-Chi is not really appealing to the Chinese market. If Marvel is banking on Iron Fist to move Chinese ticket sales by simply making the character Chinese…lmao Movies about martial artists, dragons, and Chinese imagery are released in wholesale. It’s seen that way in Taiwan and Singapore as well. Shang-Chi was received with a “ehh… not only have we spent our entire lives seeing stuff like this, but there are handful of films that did it better.” It’s regarded as a film for ABCs, not people actually living in Asia. Not that that’s bad, but there’s a noticeable difference. One being the way Katy’s house looks in Shang-Chi. That is how a ABC house looks and it sticks out like a sore thumb. A lot of Hollywood movies base their Chinese aesthetics on how Chinatowns look, not how China looks, which leads into a big rabbit hole. Marvel characters like Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange are seen as more exciting because they 1) will be visually and tonally different from the norm 2) won’t feel like they are trying to capture the Chinese aesthetic in an American way. Add in the fact that Shang-Chi is still not seen as “Chinese” by the netizens of China due to him technically being Asian American and portrayed by someone who grew up in Canada (although he was born in Harbin, China). Liu also received criticism because he didn’t look like a Chinese person from China. Whatever that means. I still don’t know. Marvel would need to 1) create a character only from China and played by an actor from China 2) refrain from making his “world” look and feel like something from a Chinese film. It will be a tight rope to walk and they would need to hire someone who actually grew up or currently lives in China to both meet and break expectations in a way that the market will like.
tbf be was going to be massively important to the end of this saga, at least according to leaks regarding the initial plan. Marvel was intending him to be a main player in Kang Dynasty, following by Shang-Chi 2 (which dealt with the effects of the outcome in Kang Dynasty). However, with DDC dropping out of Kang Dynasty and Kang being removed at the villain, Shang-Chi’s role in the story had to shift. His sequel has to be entirely rewritten, and DDC is fulfilling his contract by making SM4 instead of Avengers 5 before the starts work in Shang-Chi 2. What Marvel should have done is find a cameo spot for Shang-Chi due to the circumstances. Hopefully we get him in SM4
