The more I’ve thought about it, the less dumb it feels. Hardy has done three Venom films. Spider-Man 4 or Secret Wars will probably be the end for his character, and he really should get to share a film with Spider-Man before he hangs it up. Charlie and Vincent are staying past Secret Wars. They’ll have a chance to make Kingpin the villain of Spider-Man 5 or 6.
Hahaha I mean I hope justin is right. But we really don’t know these things, so best not to just assume we’ll have certain characters after SW. If they’re doing a soft reboot after SW then it’d make sense to finally take Spidey down to more street level, so I get it. Just hope we’re all around long enough to see it. Lol
I am 100% certain Charlie will not leave the role 2 years after he gets his first show under Feige. As long as Charlie is around, it’s safe to say Vincent will be as well.
It’s not like Marvel Studios is above being “dumb,” lol; come on. Their track record of having a safe formula underneath is stronger (or at least was at one point; in recent years, it’s been normal to start shooting without having the story figured out). But, they’re not this studio with high standards outside of Sony’s floundering. Obviously Sony doesn’t know what it’s doing. But, Marvel had to dump truckloads of money at RDJ and the Russos to pivot from Kang, and that upcoming Daredevil show has had highly publicized revamps during production. Maybe it’s ok for the director of Shang-Chi who almost directed Kang Dynasty to make a sequel to No Way Home using elements of a largely successful Venom series, while Daredevil is still coming together. Maybe it’s silly to pretend the studio collaboration behind the Three Spider-Men film everyone ate up is, idk, turning a potential Winter Soldier into Morbius???
I’m not doubting they will be, I’m just saying it’s probably best to not assume anything when we haven’t even been told anything. We were actually told about Blade and look how that turned out.
(Maybe that’s too many words when the response will be “lol you just want everything to be ‘camp’ like Madame Web!” But, I had some time to kill, lol; certainly better than doomscrolling about the state of the world.)
Actually, my response is more along the lines of "You think the Spidey/Venom multiverse film will be a potential Winter Soldier?" Feels like a stretch.
Can’t wait for the Spidey/Venom fight in the first half before they’ve realized they’re cool with each other and have to defeat Knull.
Spider-Man v. Kraven in SM-5 would clear the path for a street level Spider-Man after Spider-Man v. Superior Morbius in SM-6.
I rewatched Avengers a few days ago Cap’s line, ‘When I went under, the world was at war. I wake up, they say we won. They didn’t say what we lost,’ hit pretty hard.
I mean, no, but I don't have reason to believe this hypothetical Spider-Man/Daredevil one fans have built up in their heads would be, either. Maybe it would, and still will be someday? But, I do not believe that Marvel Studios had some instant classic for the genre ready to go, fully plotted out, that Sony yanked for some disaster that only sickos would enjoy. If this kinda trope is anathema to you regardless of execution, I have bad news for you about basically the entire superhero genre.
lol, I mean… Madame Web is a funny, baffling movie. That’s part of the charm for me. It’s not like I mistake Deathstalker II for a Malick film, or relate to Rob Liefeld’s Extreme Studios comics the same way I do Los Bros Hernandez. The only crime is when the jokes are as lazy as I assume Black Widow was.
Black Widow was good but not great with some flaws, especially on the villain end, but I liked the fun dysfunctional family dynamics and I am a huge softie for anything heartwarming.
Madame Web is funny because how abundantly clear it was slapped together and reshot to death with horrendously obvious ADR desperately trying to make it a movie vs a bunch of random sequences.
Did I say I did? I know how tropes work, you know, since they’re in every genre. I can still be annoyed to have Sony’s garbage opinions influencing it. They haven’t even completed their own Spider-Man series without ruining it yet. Why should they have a say in how Spider-Man in the MCU works? Sorry Tim, but those movies are trash minus Venom 1. MCU is struggling with their shit as is edit: also sorry if I came across too much as an asshole. I respect you and that that you love those movies, but they don’t need to mix like this. Lol
I haven't seen Morbius or Madame Web and don't really plan to. I don't think MCU phases four and five have had a bad movie, though. Most of them are just okay and definitely could've been executed a bit better, but I enjoyed them all on some level. ngl a big part of that is we're finally getting stories centered on women and poc characters. I think, all things considered, Sony's output the last few years has been better than the dumpster fire going on at DC. Black Adam was bad, Shazam 2 was boring, I only watched Sasha's scenes in The Flash and even that was underwhelming, and I won't even bother with Aquaman 2; all four of those movies have male leads who are shitty irl or just plain annoying. and they canceled Batgirl. I'm not interested in the Joker films but I think it's hilarious that incels ate up the first one completely missing the point and then Phillips made a terrible sequel just to spite them. even if Sony could potentially be dumb re: any crossover, I have faith in Feige that things won't get too bad. (and on the DC side I'm excited for Gunn's universe; Zazlav can eat shit)
I don't know why Black Widow was mentioned, but Black Widow is better than Madame Web for what it's worth
