I don’t think the idea is to capture the feel of those films. Secret Wars will be a big curtain call for the last 24 years of Marvel films. Each major character will finally interact with each other before the reboot takes place. It’s now or never.

Tobey, Andrew, and Hugh felt like sincere versions of those characters in NWH and D&W. So long as only a handful of characters are focused on I think it will work.

 

Feel like that's very much a no brainer.

Edit: Is Quill still part Celestial? Been wondering lately if his arc might tie into Eternals in some way.

 

I think his celestial half was removed after Ego died in Vol 2

 

He definitely lost any powers he had. Unless…Ego is still alive somewhere.

I’m not sure how the biology works, but how would he just become fully human? Probably a dumb question but whatever.

just skimmed the wiki for Secret Wars... when people are talking about Secret Wars re: MCU they're talking 2015 comics, not 1984, right? and it's more of a multiversal reset like Crisis on Infinite Earths?

Pretty much. There really is no story with the 1984 SW. It was just a marketing scheme from Mattel and they only used characters that were popular toys. The name “Secret Wars” also meant nothing. It was chosen because the two words ‘secret’ and ‘wars’ worked well with children in focus groups.

The only thing I see the MCU adapting from it is Peter coming in contact with the symbiote.

2015 has an actual structure that can be the basis of a film.

 

The original Secret Wars did make for a fun adaptation on Spider-Man: The Animated Series though.
