I fully expect a recast if they’re still doing a soft reboot at the end of this saga. It’s not like he can’t do smaller movies in his off time from Marvel, especially since he probably won’t have to be on set half the time for this role. He could still do Oscar worthy stuff without doing movies as big as Oppenheimer. So I don’t know why people are assuming we can’t have both things in this situation.
I agree. when I first saw the announcement I had to look for other sources. My initial thought was “this is someone shitposting” because it felt very fanfic. There are 99 ways it could go wrong (damage control from losing Kang, a top-down decision from Bob Iger, desperate attempts to gain back the audience, etc.) and 1 way it could work (having a vision for Doomsday/Secret Wars and seeing this version of Doom appear naturally throughout the process). McFeely is writing, so I’m cautiously optimistic, but it really will depend on whether the decision was made before McFeely became involved. If so, he’s going to have to work around that, and it will be evident and burden the overall narrative. On one hand, I really wanted to be surprised, and it did that, but on the other hand, this is an insanely risky move.
These things will make a billion dollars by bringing the casuals back in. Disney doesn’t care what the comic book purists think they just want the marvel money machine to go brrrrr.
I won't say you were mean cause my comments were definitely meant to be for amusement, but it is a little funny reading your take in that thread and you here. I'm cool with it, I'm a hypocrite too sometimes.
I think clowning on a band who work 9/5 jobs and clowning on the billionaire company and one of (the?) most successful movie franchises of all time a tad different. I just re-read my posts and I don’t see any where I’m talking about fans or anyone in this thread at all. Just poking fun at this (imo) dumb and obvious desperation stunt.
Eh, you're not wrong that the nuance is different, but at the same time people are excited, sharing in each other's excitement, and while you may have valid points, there's nothing wrong with letting people enjoy their good vibes before killing said vibe, is there?
I don’t have a ton of comics knowledge. When they streamlined the universes after Secret Wars, do the characters still have memories of their own universes, or do they just go on only having knowledge of the new combined universe? If that makes sense.
IIRC the only characters that merged from other universes were Maker (evil Reed Richards) and Miles. Even Miles' supporting cast are technically 616-analogues for their Ultimate universe counterparts. They only remember 616. Maker definitely remembers his universe. It depends on the writer for Miles, but technically he should.
just to clarify, if it’s desperate when the MCU asks RDJ to return and he seems mutually interested in making money again, what was it when Blink-182 asked Tom to return, i’ll take my answer off air
I agree, it’s why I don’t post in most band threads of albums I don’t like. But I don’t think making jokes at the studio’s expense is the same as shitting on an album someone likes. No one has seen these movies and it does smell of desperation. My point last night was how I feel though, if someone doesn’t wanna read four posts laughing at Marvel, they can block me for a bit. I didn’t say anything, that I can even try and interpret, to any user of this website or fan of the movies. I was very much aiming at the movie studio.
See blocking people that say mean things *to people* for dunks makes your viewing experience so much better. I said get that bag!
Kind of a weird choice but it has me more interested in the MCU than I have been since Endgame. Best case scenario for me would be that RDJ is revealed to be a robot made in the likeness of Stark by the real Doom to mess with the avengers. I dont think that will happen though.
