It's a shame if true because Kang is actually a very cool character that could have been done so well. Honestly, they should have done more Kang variations from the start, but Majors is still a colossal piece of shit, so it's just as well they didn't use him too much.
I think it’s for the best that Kang won’t be the focus of Avengers 5. Secret Wars will be about the multiverse, so let’s just have an earth-focused Avengers film similar to Avengers 1 or Ultron. Show what our new people can do as EARTH’s mightiest heroes.
Doom would be such a colossal fuck up if they rush him. Just introduce Beyonder like everyone theorized Kang was going to become anyway.
I actually think we've had this exact exchange before, and now I'll point out the Ultron from What If? and oh my God life is a wheel a never-ending wheel someone stop the spokes on the wheel of existence
If would have been great if 1) phases 4 and 5 were more streamlined 2) he wasn’t defeated in Quantumania We instead went through 9 films and 7 shows and came out only seeing him lose twice and kinda sorta knowing where his plans were ultimately heading. Phase four should have had ended with Avengers: Secret Invasion (so we have an actual team) and phase five should have shown a lot of his multiversal strings being pulled in the background. That way 1) we actual care about the team he is going to come across 2) he would feel like a real threat to the group
Maybe I’m crazy but I don’t think Kang is completely done with. It said they were minimizing the role, not cutting it. They could still go with the theorized plotline that the Kang defeated in Quantumania turns into Beyonder. There’s already rumors Colman Domingo was taking over the role so it could still work. Just because his name was taken out of the title of the movie doesn’t mean he won’t be in it at all.
He lost a fist fight with Ant-Man and the Wasp while his grand evil plan was stopped. I’d say he was defeated. Having Scott think “did I doom everyone” before going “nah” and eating a slice of cake isn’t going to make Kang intimidating
