This is coming across harsher than me just messing around so let’s laugh that I’m not sure if I used the right affect/effect
So we finished the last episode of Secret Invasion. Here are my thoughts, one by one. - At the risk of opening Pandora's Box, I think I might be getting tired of the superhero fight spectacle because the fight between G'iah and Gravik, while still kind of cool, wasn't nearly as interesting to me as the antics happening in that hospital with Fury and Not-Rhodey. I mean, I get why they feel like they need that, and clearly just the direction of the plot was going to lead to a fight of some kind, but I think using the television format should allow for them to get away with a story that doesn't need to have a huge fight as the climax. I would be 100% onboard with them doing that in the future. - I remain uncertain as to whether the ending with Ritson's proclamation against otherworlders will have any significant effect on future films, seeing as how Thunderbolt Ross is supposed to be president in Brave New World, which is only two films away. If it weren't for that, I'd say it would have a huge impact and I'd be interested by the ramifications, but as things are, it just seems like a waste of a plot point, unless Ross continues the same vendetta. - I do think it's nice that Fury and Varra stay together and go up to SWORD together, even if that scene felt really cheesy with the overdramatic music. - I remain uncertain about the decision with Rhodey, as to when he got kidnapped. I'm currently veering toward thinking they should just go for it. They already got people questioning if he got taken as far back as Civil War, so might as well go for it, hell or high water, and all of the baggage that unlocks. Otherwise, it's again, a waste of a plot point. Overall, I'd say I had fun watching this. I don't like that Hill and Talos got killed, but I'm onboard with G'iah and Varra as characters and I'm interested to see where and when they show up next. And assuming the ending isn't immediately undone, I'm interested to see what effect this has on future entries. I think it's very easy to take the ending of this and have it build up to an adaptation of Seige, which could be fun, if they wanted to go that route.
Loki s2 has given Disney an easy way to write him out completely. Let’s hope they do the right thing. It also allows for a recast, but I say just move on at this point. But that’s just me.
Disney is going to not recast, and instead introduce kangs sister to take up the mantle. A decision no one will be happy with
We’re two phases into this saga. I don’t think it makes any sense to just scrap Kang when they can simply recast. It’s easily explained why he looks different or they could simply ignore like they’ve done with other big recasts. It’s not that big of a deal
I'm just happy he got held accountable for being a piece of shit and that his victims are getting justice.
But a lot of people have complained that there is no clear direction yet, despite being this deep into two phases. Most people wouldn’t even notice or care if they change direction. I agree, it’s not a big deal either way.
It’s pretty crazy that Marvel/Disney didn’t even try to get ahead of this and just waited it out. But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised when Disney continues to hire Jared Leto.
Wow. Well there you finally have it. And they never saw him again, I suppose. Maybe. Probably not, we live in a terrible world.
