Phases tend to have their own themes. Phase 1 was the introduction to the Avengers, phase 2 was growing hostility and distrust amongst the Avengers, phase 3 was for the fall out of civil war, phase 4 was for new introductions, phase 5 is when we see small groups start to gather again. I don't think Thunderbolts, which is a direct sequel to Cap 4, and Blade are going to fit into the phase 6 narrative. Phase 6 looks like it will be the destabilization of the multiverse.
I mean in the end I don’t think it really matters. I just think that they made it a point to announce that F4 was the start of phase 6 and I would think there might be a reason for that. If they push F4 to phase 5 then that means phase 6 doesn’t have a single movie besides the Avengers films (that we know of obviously)
That’s a good point. I guess I’m just hesitant to accept that because now we don’t know anything about phase 6 until they announce more. But then again, if it wasn’t for Chapek, we probably wouldn’t know as much as we do anyway
If it wasn't for Chapel we wouldn't be in this mess. He pushed for more content and had Marvel prematurely announce shows and films. Should never have jumped from 3 films a year to 4 films + 4 shows and there shouldn't have been more than 3 or 4 main new heroes introduced.
The “phase” distinctions are completely meaningless and imo should’ve been abandoned after Endgame. The current “phase” stuff feels the way it feels when others studios try to imitate the MCU. Or, alternatively, they could’ve announced one “phase” at a time and had one “Avengers” film per “phase.” Bet that would’ve helped a lot! (And, y’know, not have that whole Disney+ over-saturation, lol.)
Tbf, Jeremy can't do worse than the awful 'The Rental.' One of the worst "horror" films I've ever watched.
I agree. The phases at this point seem irrelevant but with them still being used I think there are sub-themes throughout.
…also, why do they need four films in 2025, when they’re currently struggling so badly??? Why not move, say, Thunderbolts to 2026 (since that and Cap 4 so close together can’t be wise)? Space this shit out! You could also then give the VFX houses more time to get the special effects right! Sheesh, lol.
Oh, you like Stavy? There’s this podcast he’s been on a few times, called Chapo Trap House. Maybe you should give it a try!
Deadpool 3 was originally also phase 6 before it released before Blade, Captain America 4 and Thunderbolts. Now F4 is releasing before Blade and Thunderbolts. Makes way more sense that it is now phase 5 instead of pushing Blade and Thunderbolts to phase 6.
