I nominate Benson & Moorhead for Secret Wars. I’m pretty sure that’s how this works. I nominate a director(s) then Marvel sees my post on chorus and listens to me
Seems like most theories are going to be right about Wolverine going back to the Logan timeline after he’s in the MCU for Deadpool 3 and Avengers Secret Wars. So he has already teamed up with the Avengers by the time the events of “Logan” happens.
Mmm, that sounds bad. Imagine an actor of Ali's caliber asking to play a specific character in your franchise and then being made the fourth lead in his own movie. Glad they're rethinking that.
Of course RDJ will make a return as Tony Stark in Secret Wars, that's not surprising at all. You have one opportunity to put him on screen with Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey's Spider-Man. No way you miss that.
Yeah, I fully expect him to make an appearance in Secret Wars along with Tobey, Hugh, and the original Avengers, but I would prefer if he's not back for good.
I feel like it’s kinda silly to think the solution is to bring back Tony & Natasha (plus presumably Steve). Like, the example given of the exception to the decline is Guardians 3, which famously launched as an unknown, risky project. I know I keep harping on this, but the solution really is as simple as slowing down and making sure each individual film is well crafted. Let directors make something good, with a solid script going in instead of making shit up as you go, with a production pipeline that lets the visual effects work; and don’t oversaturate as you go. (Granted, No Way Home had a lot of these problems and still “worked” off the back of many returning familiar faces from various projects, lol, so idk.)
100% agree that they need to slow tf down, which it sounds like Iger is kind of pushing for on the TV front, but who knows. We were eating good when we got 2 or so movies a year. Just felt like there was so much more care in the product, outside of a couple of stinkers.
That's why I think after Secret Wars they should start the entire MCU from scratch after a 5 year hiatus. No need to continue that story with those actors. They've already started to build up to Kang (boooo) and whatever happens in Secret Wars with the multiverse. Just let it run its course and then start over with a new plot with new characters and actors that aren't "multiversal". Hopefully with the lead up to Secret Wars they slow things down. If I was in charge of Disney I'd cancel all future Disney+ shows that weren't already in production (with the exception of still occasionally releasing disney+ specials like werewolf by night and the guardians holiday) and limit it to 3 movies a year.
I know we've been over this, but I absolutely hate this idea because, among other things, what, we're just going to throw away all the headway we just made into characters like Moon Knight and Shang-Chi and She-Hulk after just a couple years into their existence? Feels like that would be a tremendous and unnecessary loss.
Interesting that the variety article mentioned that Marvel studios have discussed using Dr Doom and doing away with Kang. As much as I would prefer Doom to Kang, you can't just throw Doom in without a build up. Maybe if he's the villain in F4 and then returns as the villain in Secret Wars, but who knows. All of the multiversal heroes teaming up against Dr Doom is way more exciting than going against Kang tbh
