people are also assuming this means every MCU cameo of his was the same character, which would include him being an elderly general during WWII, but the same age as a delivery guy during Civil War.
As much as I expect all these spin off movies not featuring the main characters will end up just as good as Catwoman and Steel.........Chris Yost did the script so that gives me hope.
Other studios: Diversity behind the camera is hard. Sony: Hold my beer. Those movies failed for reasons completely separate of whether or not they had Batman or Superman in them. Both Silver Sable and Black Cat have starred in their own comics before.
I mean, Catwoman and Steel have their own titles too I think. I know the real issue is that the scripts were terrible, but characters like Venom are so tied to Spiderman that I don't even know how it'll be done. Vemon has a huge Spider symbol on his chest for crying out loud lol.
Yep. Catwoman especially has quite a history of headlining her series. I'd personally argue that she's way more interesting on her own (especially Brubaker's run on the character) than as a Batman supporting character, though I do like when Batman cameos in one of her books. I gave a lengthy explanation in the Venom film thread earlier this week on how that character works great without Spider-Man. As for that spider logo, it's stylized enough that it could work as just natural markings on the symbiote that just happen to look like a spider. If we can accept that Superman's logo is an alien family rune representing hope that just happens to look like the letter "S," we can accept a stylized spider, especially since animals with markings that resemble other animals are pretty common here on earth.
Dang it, Jason. ACTUALLY, *pushes up nonexistent glasses with finger* the Superman logo was a symbol of hope in Mark Waid's Superman: Birthright a decade before Man of Steel. Duh.
I think you are right, Man of Steel did take cool parts from multiple Superman comics to make the ultimate Superman live action film.
Marvel loves Easter eggs enough that I wouldn't read too much into that... But, seeing those characters in the MCU would be sick.
Well, there's been rumours of a film or TV show for one of them for a couple of months now due to something filming in Hawaii. Would be cool, then you could have the original Defenders. And then have them meet the current MCU Defenders! Ok, i'm getting ahead of myself a bit.
