Spoiler culture is stupid as hell and more people need to not care about being spoiled The fact that they treat a script to a comic book movie as some ancient tome that can only be read by the eyes of the worthy is absolutely ridiculous
I don't get this take. Why do people need to be okay with having something taken away from them? That goes for both the viewer, having the emotional reaction of a surprise taken from them, and the creator, who gets robbed of delivering that reaction. Like, I don't mind spoiling myself from time to time, but I understand why people don't want to be. Acting like I don't just seems ignorant at best and selfish at worst. The level of secrecy around the Marvel films is ridiculous, but I think the problem is the people who are compelled to leak shit, not the lengths they're having to go through to prevent it. Clearly, even that's not enough anyway.
I think spoiler culture is dumb but for the opposite. I don’t understand why people want to find out what happens in a movie before they see it. It’s like finding out how a book ends before you read it. Why??? Then you have clickbait on youtube where people intentionally spoiler something and put it on the thumbnail. Also I think the mcu has such secrecy because it’s structured like it’s an episodic show but through film. I’d argue tv shows are way more secret. It would be like someone telling you how an episode ends for stranger things before you see it. It ruins watching it in the moment.
So it's a bit of a weird thing because there's been a few studies that having something spoiled for you actually increases your enjoyment of something, but some studies say it tends to be more of an individualized thing. I personally hate being spoiled something because I just like seeing what the creator intended for me to experience. It's supposed to be a ride for me and I want to see where it leads me. Also if having something spoiled for you increases your enjoyment can't you just have your cake and eat it too by rewatching the movie?
If people enjoy spoilers and like to read them then that’s fine. I’m talking from a perspective of someone who doesn’t like stories spoiled.
this isn't really something you can study though because it's impossible to test. there's no way to have the same person view the same thing for the first time twice, once spoiled and once unspoiled to see how much enjoyment they got out of the specific moment they had spoiled. any other test that's been done isn't really relevant because of the amount of extraneous factors.
No, I agree with you, but I'm just relaying information. All they did was test people's level of enjoyment unspoiled vs spoiled and more consistently the people who were spoiled on the story enjoyed the pieces more. I think it's interesting overall, but not a true indication because it's a very personal thing. I just don't like spoilers because I like going in blind and knowing very little.
I think often times people can enjoy something more when they know what it's going for and have knowledge of the entire thing which is why rewatches can be so beneficial. But yeah it really says nothing about what is actually spoiled, which is the way you experience that information for the first time. I can experience something again knowing the details any time I want but I can never go in blind again.
I mostly don’t care for spoilers. The thing about Marvel films is that it’s one continuous narrative so knowing each step is more fun.
Ope.. by the sounds of it, she was pretty much solely responsible for the toxic work environment with the VFX teams.
I was being a little hyperbolic haha, obviously I get that nobody likes being spoiled when they don't want to be. I was more leaning into the comically over the top way that they "protect" these spoilers; I think it's absolutely absurd that actors can face real financial consequences/actual lawsuits for saying what happens in a movie, and shit like locking the script in a box that only certain people can open makes me just roll my eyes
Daredevil set photos show Matt walking alongside the cathedral with a billboard dated March 15, 2020. Perhaps part of the show takes place during the Blip and Matty is on his own after Foggy and Karen were snapped. I'd be fine with that so long as they return with everyone else. Would be interesting to see Matty completely on his own during the Blip.
Tagged it, but if years a show takes place are spoilers then I'm going to need a list of what is and isn't a spoiler because that was completely oblivious to me. I mean, the entire Blade movie is set in 1930s and I think that's been discussed in open here. Not being argumentative but I don't know where the line is here.
Why would anyone guess Daredevil would take place then though? We’ve been told nothing about that. A spoiler is information gotten from unofficial sources, like set photos. It is also general practice to spoiler tag rumors, leaks, and anything that may give away plot points before the official release.
Also, I’m not sure if I knew that about Blade. I don’t really care though. The point is that some might. If it’s not out and the info is not officially released, tag it. It’s really not complicated.
